Dre...wow good to hear you are alright! Conditions at times were some of the worst we could have out there, but we all put our skills to work for us and had a great ride without any injuries or worse...

Ya, our ride through "Patagonia" was fantasitic (after the group split in half) and the rain held off for that part of the ride through the woods...it was great (for me the sweeper for most of the ride) to get out in front and throttle the GS through the twisty dirt 4x4 road up through the mountains. There were even a few spots along the way where your heart skipped a beat:yikes realizing that our bikes were going over the last few bits of earth left before what was left of the road disappeard with the rest of the earth that had fallen away in a previous landslides, SCARY!...the thought going through you head is "hold your line NO MATTER WHAT! and you'll make it through/over it"

It was great to meet everyone and ride such a great ride, even if conditions weren't ideal, anyway there will be another day when conditions are better and we can all enjoy the experience a bit more.:D

Oh ya, thanks Martin (wheatwhacker) for taking the steps to get the ball rolling to getting a bunch of us out there creating an adventure!

Well, that was a ride alright. Glad to hear we all made it back. The last few of us crossed Golden Gate some time around ten so all in all about 12/13 hours in the saddle, about 11/12 of those in the pouring, driving, frog strangling, stator-eating rain.

Big thank you to Wheatwhacker for the loan of the red KLR (some unfinished business there to sort out but I think we have a plan) and to JonyFi for hauling my ass back to SF on the trusty beamer.

Very cool to see some piccies already -- some nice shots.

    com3 you are a loon!

All in all a great day!

I couldnt post until i got to work on Monday morning, when i got home, i was in the dog house for sure...

anyway - I passed martin on 128 flicked the lights. I had to get to 101 where the overpass was so i could try and get some cellular reception.

I just read that you guys had some trouble with the KLR and I feel really bad for taking off on ya. the best i can hope for is that I wouldnt have been any help anyway.

I made it back home by 9pm and have been pretty much trying to get outta the doghouse all day sunday. I will post a few pics and a short movie I took up on Fish Rock Road later this week.

    Good Times....Good times

on another note - I did mess up my knee, I am wearing a neoprene brace to stabilize it. it feels like I tweaked one the knee ligament...acl, mcl, lcl...who knows...no swelling, so I will ice it and hopefully be ready for Death Valley this Friday. - BTW for those that saw me ditch it, will you vouch that it was the pigs I was dodging??
