Hello fellow ADVRider.com F5 "DAKAR-ista" fans and followers... :wave

I hope you are all eager and looking forward to another year of riding along with the "virtual DAKAR chase truck" that has become know as the ADVRider.com RACING FORUM - f5irehose coverage of the DAKAR Rally. :thumbup:thumbup:thumbup

THIS "resource pages" thread is for everyone to put up links, reference pages etc. as a quick reference guide to all things DAKAR... all media coverage links, VPN's, TV schedules and internet news/results based information should be shared HERE. :deal

So please, post them up and share them HERE if you got some...

Please continue the vibe of the lead up proceedings here - https://advrider.com/f/threads/2021-f5-pre-dakar-discussion-it-is-december-after-all.1425624/ - in the pre-event discussion thread... and not clutter this "resouces" page with other than information, links of tips on where to go to find such.

The "2021 SAUDI DAKAR OFFICIAL COVERAGE THREAD" (a.k.a. f5irehose) will be created and applied the "stickiness" in due course... and will the opened on the 3rd of January - when the rally itself starts... :thumb

Until then eat, drink and be merry with your family and friends... share your insights and dreams for the race together with the rest of the F5 nuts here on ADVRider.com in the pre-event thread...

Meanwhile, stay happy and safe over this holiday season, and we'll see you all in the f5irehose come "kick off time" for the prologue... eh? :ricky:ricky:ricky

    2021 Route
The rich tapestry of landscapes in Saudi Arabia offers an almost infinite number of permutations to give the route of the Dakar a better flavour. Just as 2020 was a quest of discovery, the 2021 route will be a journey of exploration. Everything will be brand-new, including every single kilometre of the specials. Furthermore, the fastest sectors, where the difference comes down to raw power, have been trimmed.

    NOTE:

The route for this year’s Dakar Rally in Saudi Arabia has undergone a slight change just two days prior to the start of the event.

The finish for Stage 5 and start of Stage 6 has been moved around 400km northeast to Al Qaisumah, from Buraydah.

As such, the length of Stage 5 increases from a total of 625km to 662km and a special of 419km to 456km.

However, that is perfectly offset by Stage 6 dropping from a total of 655km to 618km and a special of 485km to 448km.

Chasing the F5 virtual DAKAR... yes folks -they've improved the ASO game for 2021... :clap:D

Like uor good mate Carlos... I have been spending most of this mornings SS1 "back at school"... looking, pölaying and learning about the finesses of the new Dakar.co live tracking map and how you can use it to enhance our understanding of what is transpiring out on the piste of the DAKAR selective stages...

I must say... this is a return to "live tracking" that we have missed since it was abolioshed by the ASO in the south amercican daze...

The map and "time slider" function at the bottom... is a great refinement.

Balkan makes a good point... even though the map and time slider give a physical representation of EACH riders progress on the stage and their positions relative to one another in a graphic form... remember that the various GPS senders of each of the riders do not "PING" simultaneously - as seen by the timestamps. There can also be a lag from time to time...

So while it is great to be able to see "who is out front" (physically on the stage)... there is still the matter of "corrected time" and the riders following later in the pack... who set down better section/stage intervals... and actually setting the fastest times.

THIS is where MISCHA's "bubble function" on his dakartracker.nl site is STILL a very handy tool people... :nod

because it visually reconciles the real (local) time vs stage time differences at each WP, and displays them in a manner so you can "see" who has set fastest times and where they are physically in relation to one another...

What I am saying is that BOTH tools are useful... NOT just playing with our new colorful DAKAR.com mappy thingy. :choppa:1drink

    :nod

Most definately... with the advent of the new DAKAR.com live tracking MAP... Mischa's Dakar tracker (one monitor)... Dakar.com and ADVRider.com on a second... and all the social media, snap map, twitter etc. on a third... the F5 DAKAR has become a three monitor card game once more... :D

Agreed! the snap chat and snap map stuff is a revelation... BIG kudos till @Myway for finding this for everyone here at the collective to tune into. :clap:clap:clap
