Everyone see the pics of the recovery that surfaced last week?

    Vid came out tonight.

Gnarly. Don't ride over your skill level folks. It's not worth it. Not a damn thing wrong with a hike-a-bike now and then. I'd rather help push your bike than recover your body.

I’ll happily admit I walked (wrestled; cursed) my bike at least a half mile of some of that a few weeks ago.
So glad the rider is ok...thank goodness!
They’re trying to get the bike recovered according to his Fb post.

Unbelievable. It looked like he rode right over the edge for basically no reason other than lack of sufficient ability to be out there.

It’s about 70ft. Please, don’t judge. He wasn’t reckless or riding super fast.
This is high consequence terrain and in the video he was very nervous about that section. Shit happens and let’s all be thankful that we didn’t get another RIP headline.
It is a very good reminder that things can go wrong quickly, fortunately this one had a “better than can be expected outcome”.

His bike, a 2019 KTM 300 sure didn't last long. Glad he's alright, looks like he went off inthe best section possible, hittingwater was his best bet. Scary, I just hit that section last weekend.

I know someone who was with that group, apparently it took like 3 or 4 days to get the bike up, FS was on their ass about it. He had some recovery specialists out there initially, not sure if they're the ones that got it out. It's a 70' cliff, bike went down to the bottom and ended up at the bottom of a 10' deep pool at the base of the waterfall.

Hey, if you got to ride off a cliff, pic a scenic one haha. Since he didn't die (or get hurt bad) and is posting pics up on facebook and a video on YT it's open season to critique the whole episode. If I crashed like that and posted the whole thing up I'd expect you all to do the right thing and tell me how bad my riding sucked :lol3

Word is the out of state rider was definitely in over his head. Glad he's ok, the guy needs to buy a lottery ticket.

    Hi

As a Class V whitewater rafter, I know that bowl from both a rider and kayaker view .. ( I never dropped it, but worked safety for others who have)

that appears to be a silly recovery effort in the video.

Why they did not simply put a 2 point load equalizer hitch on the handlebars, and use a jeep winch to bring it up.

Heck , could have likely been brought up with 4 guys pulling on a 4:1 pulley system.

Wow. Things can get sideways quick for any of us. Lucky dude. When he was in the water, I was half expecting him to go over the next drop. Glad he is ok.

A profssional recovery company did try with a winch, part of the problem was it was under 10-12' of rushing water with another drop just downstream.

If he had the Factory Kreftwellplush fork fix, Clakluse autoclutchlever, and the Slavens tire of the minute that would have never happened.

At least the bike was really clean after the spin cycle and rinse recovery.

Damn, happy the rider is OK. Glad to see how grateful he is..... and he's got a lot of reasons to be from what it looks like.

Any ideas what this bike recovery probably costed?
