I will be following a car on a long road trip across the country on my GSA and am looking for a 2-way radio for which I can talk to the folks in the car with, easily. I see Sena has a "device" but after buying that you still need to buy a two way radio? I see two way radios advertised with "Bluetooth pairing capabilities but the reviews of some say they are brand specific in terms of pairing etc...has anyone done this without having to spend a small fortune - thanks.

Then a pair of the Motorola's linked above would fix you up
One in your tank bag and one in the car

They also work while plugged into usb for charging so unlimited run time

Why would I need one? - once it is paired with my helmet aren't I good with just one in their car for comms?

    No

You pair your helmet to the radio
Then talk over that radio to another radio in the car. Using the microphone and ear speakers in your helmet connected via bluetooth to the radio

The car radio can be any compatible frs/gmrs radio

The actual bluetooth connection between Sena helmet set and the motorola radio is good for about 36 feet of distance

    The motorola mu350r
Works great with the Sena I have used them together quite a bit
Including talking to someone in a car

I use a $10 push to talk button mounted to my handle bar

K, just for info: I tried "Cobra PR562BLT Walkie Talkies Pro Series 28-Mile Bluetooth Two-Way Radios" and they did not play well with the Sena 10C.

    otherwise the set is good.
