    That would be awesome!

Google maps shows some old roads but they are not highlighted as routes.

Way back before they closed the one out of Monache we tried to ride it, made it down to the first crossing on the South Fork. The water comes through a slot and was probably 15-20 feet deep and doing about 30 miles a hour. Hard to believe as in late summer you can cross it and not get your ankles wet. The trail came out of the lower end of Monache and joined up with the Wild Rose trail, now all are closed off.

This gate was locked, it is good to see the FS removing the dead trees.

Yeah, cut down a 3000 year old tree to prove it's exsists? Where's the logic in that? Dam.

I just rode this a few weeks ago with friends. Death Valley 190 through Panamint springs to Olancha. Head south around 25-30 miles to 9 Mile road west up over Sherman Pass all paved however the road had some light sand rock in some corners. Took Kern River Highway into Lake Isabel for lunch by around noon and 178 back to the 395. We ended up taking the highway back so we didnt hit Death Valley in the 120's in the afternoon. Easily done in a day we were home before sunset around 6

I did that almost 2 years ago. Very nice ride but I did it in October, out and back through Death Valley.

Next time I head through there I will probably go to Sherman Pass down to the road that hugs Kern River and then roll up to the Sequoias and mess around on those roads.
