Gauging interest- I've wondered if there was a market for setting up rugged/waterproof smartphones with ALL your old gpx tracks, waypoints, etc for a while, so I thought this was a good place to ask. Plan a: Send me a rugged/waterproof smartphone along with your tracks/waypoints/stuff via sdcard/thumbdrive/gmail/, and I mail it back to you, ready to go. Plan b Hmm, not sure yet. I'm trying to make this is plug-n-play as possible. A dual-core (minimum, please) high selling device like s4 active, s5 active, moto g, or similarly GOOD SELLNG device running Android would be best. Sorry, no iphones (yet), and definitely no windows phones (until they break 10% marketshare). expectations, (your phone will be): *wiped of all user data (erased) and waiting for you to add your gmail account *completely updated, and ready to navigate to wherever in the USofA (the rest of the north american continent is available without extra charges, just ask please) with vector maps, GraphHopper data sets, and POI's for thousands of campsites/fuel/stuff. *livetracking setup so your spouse/dog/friends can track your epic rides in a browser via GPSies.com as long as there is a cellular signal to push data *automagical track recording with three profiles: street (low point count), dualsport (medium point count), fine (hiking, very high point counts) that starts each time the application is started, and saved automagically every x minutes *completely usable as a GPS device, without cellular service ever being needed again, aside livetracking, for obvious reasons *instructions for setting up FolderSync so all your data is backed up to GoogleDrive thrice a week and the main selling point: *YOU WILL NEVER HAVE A NEED TO TOUCH BASECAMP AGAIN, EVER. you can still store your tracks there if you prefer, but there is no need. yes really. ever. :) Note: This is not a store, shop, or business (yet), this is only a gauging interest thread. The first 10 setups would be FREE (minus cost of hardware+shipping obviously) , and I'll let those users voice their praises/flames about the process, right here, in the open, on advrider. If it turns out to be a huge time waster/annoyance, expect the first ten to be the only ten. If it's actually a positive experience for both of us, expect a VERY reasonable price, fast turn around, and super-good vibes about trusting people in our world again... TRUST: Yes, I know you're thinking "I'm not about to send some random dude my $600 phone, and HOPE he sends it back, that's crazy!" and I understand. All I can offer you in assurance are my posts in Locus thread, and other gps-related threads as proof of my intentions to help/serve. Will I HOOK YOU UP? hacked/cracked/unlocked maps, tat tracks, or anyone's pay-for data... forget it, no, I will not "hook you up" like the cable guy. Thoughts ?
