Pre trip packing today.
One can never have too many gadgets!
I have that exact same piece in my kit
I just decided that I can make it. I'll be leaving from Portland. If you aren't set on the I84 route, I'll probably take a couple of days and work my way through some of the fun back roads in Oregon to get to Lewiston and then over Lolo. If not, it would be great to meet up with you guys in lewiston and then head over lolo to Shady's.
Skalkaho Falls is really rockin' right now. Running clear over the road.
And you Nap's Grill fans can likely visit the new location:
I'm planning on leaving Wednesday (that could still change) and taking 2 days, I'll probably camp somewhere between Ukiah and La Grande, then take rattlesnake and lolo on Thursday. Depending on your pace and mine, you'll probably catch me on the road. If you see a white F800GS, get my attention and we can link up.
It's probably already been said, but can someone remind me where the "Rattlesnake" is?
OR3/WA129 between Enterprise and Asotin (Lewiston)
Thanks. On my route now!
So there are two Lewistons in MT?
Note to self: spelling cownts.
Its a great stretch of road. But, getting to Shady's it is also hard to argue with taking ID95 to ID13 at Grangeville then on to Lolo. You really can't go wrong with any of roads in that part of the country.
Just saw your doll head post!
Classic ............ you know, in a mildly creepy way.
A friend told me, "What Shady Rascal needs to help get over his divorce ........... is a little head."
And damn if I didn't find "a little head" right there on the side of the road!
Always happy to help!
I sure had fun making up THAT story.
Looking good at this point for me to motor up there for Shady II if the pig stays in one piece, and if nobody offers me a good oil field job for $250K/a year!
Anything you need me to bring up from Colorado?
See you soon amigo.
Thanks Rob, looking forward to seeing you again. Can't think of anything I need from CO but in case you find something alongside the road again....could be interesting..
Got my route all picked out except for an unknown gate south of Quinn's hot springs, no one at the USFS could tell me if it's gated. Need to keep bugging them. A mix of short asphalt stints, tribal back roads through the prairie, and Forest sevice roads over the mountains. As near as I can tell, only about 50 to 60 miles of slab out of 250 or so. Leaving here at the butt-crack of dawn Friday morning, should be there late afternoon.
That road south of Quinn's that goes left and up over the hill, I don't think has a gate. Rode that on my V Strom. Good ride.
Edit: that was Siegel Creek road, if it's what you're looking at. You end up in Alberton.
That's the one. Confirmed, no gate. Cross I90 at Alberton, pass the Jack Saloon on my way to 12. Cut across Mormon Peak/Creek to 93. Can't wait.
That's a really good ride right there.
Have fun, guys!
