Freight for anything into NZ is a large issue if you want a one off. If someone else is paying your moving costs??? and you are a mechanic??? then bring tools, tool chest, bike lift, tyre change machine... they don't have to be expensive (think harbour freight) but they are sooooo cheap in the USA.
But please be aware if bringing power tools our electricity is different to the American stuff, for one it hurts a lot more. Years ago when I was doing my time we had a local client new to the country who was obviously of the impression we lived in a very backwards country as they shipped over a house lot of electrical appliances. We had to fit the house out with 110 volt transformers and got them to get the US power points. I did manage to wire one US outlet to NZ mains and took out one toaster. Adrian
