Should the 950 get it's own Page?

Seeing the many new 950 owners in the last few weeks, the volume will definitely grow even more. The aftermarket is only starting to catch up with accessories and improvements - we are only at the beginning.

An own playpen definitely makes sense. Otherwise we'll make too much noise and drown the Capo's and Stroms etc. It would be sad if they went somewhere else. We are all advriders, many events and issues are common and I like to see their trip reports.

There is another area I would like to see improved - the Hall of Wisdom.

The idea is great, but it might be a bit neglected.

The GS'es and the Katooms should have each their own Hall of Wisdom, where persistent information, like performance mods, tire choices, luggage options etc. are posted and MAINTAINED by someone.

The idea would be that discussion threads can roll off and be forgotten, but the 'compressed wisdom' about a technical subject is stored there. New owners can easily find important information that way without having to ask the same thing again and again.

The challenges in this would be:
    - a simple way of navigation, but I'm sure Baldy would do a good job. This site is one of the best to navigate and the most graphically appealing I have seen,
    - a clear policy how this area is maintained. I have only looked into the Hall of Wisdom briefly, but the posts seem old and I don't know how new stuff would get there.
    - that someone or a group of people do maintain and update the information stored there. That is possibly the most important issue of all.

Gert, exactly what I have been thinking, and better said then I could have. It seems ADVrider is also getting close to reaching critical mass as a whole, not just on the 950 front. I've seen topics brought up that have been beaten to death, where a simple search would have covered the topic/question with ease, and yet there will be two more posts with almost identical titles moving down the new post list in tandem...... I love to contribute, and try and help to put something back for all I have gotten from this site, but not to the point of ad nauseum.

Seems we need something along the lines of a pinned thread, or header page, that covers say the 10 most common mods and/or questions for the particular bike. You click on the bags, or say tires and it takes you to a page that covers the available options, and common questions, and as you mentioned, if it is going to be on this site, it has to look good. The term you used was pefect: "Compressed wisdom." (Though is seems that might have a different meaning over in Jo Momma!) I do feel there would need to be a lot of discussion, some of which already exists in the form of the archived threads, so that a fair and balanced view of the options available was presented. Hopefully this would bring the "New members" in at an earlier point with more advanced and thus hopefully what would amount to more new, interesting and/or possibly challenging questions.

Another "yes" voice here. :thumb It'd make navigation a bunch easier. e.g. Right now, a search of "KTM 950 windshield" is likely to find a message from someone with a KTM 125 who bought a v-strom without a windshield for $950.

A few month ago, I was disapointed by how many 950-related posts were occupying the 'Big, Mean, Nasty' forum (I wasn't interested by the 950)

Now, I feel sorry to see there's still posts about other bikes (I've purchased a 950).

So yes, a dedicated forum will be definitely nice for both communities !

By the way, I think the 'The G spot' is a nice name because it's a play on the specific bike name. While I like 'Orange Crush' or 'Big, Mean, Nasty', they don't specify it's about OUR bike.

As '950' is almost a synonym of the big KTM, I therefore propose "Nasty 950" (don't you think "nasty-nine-fifty" sounds good ?)

The other bikes could be in a "Big, Mean, Sexy" section
(we all know the 950 is sexier, but shush!)

    Which brings us to:

What should the name of the KTM 950 forum be?

    My vote: "The Big "O"

Let's see. What do we have so far?

    Orange Crush
    The Evil Twin
    The Big "O"
Big Carrot for Nasty Rabbits :rolleyes
Big.Mean.Nasty. (throw the rest of the bums out!)
    Nasty-Nine-Fifty

Keep 'em coming. Once we have a reasonable selection, maybe we could set up a poll.

Please note. We may be rearranging chairs on the deck of the Titanic. :rofl

This site was a great contributor to the purchase of my new 950, and it appears to be contributing to many others purchasing decisions. We have "in-house" inventors and tinkerers that are developing 950-specific hardware. I believe that it should have a dedicated page. The level of knowledge and helpful attitude has been great.

As example you can visit the web site of the Africa Twin Internetional Connection, ATIC, in www.atic.org
There you will find almost ALL about the Honda Africa Twin, and include a email list very good to receive answer to your questions.
    Just as example.
