Got all the wiring straightened out. Used shrink sleeves to fix the front bls wires. It's off the lift and running but still have some minor issues before being road worthy IMG_20201021_201052981_BURST001.jpg

Finally got the '79 on the road. Ended up having to go through the carb and install fresh plugs but it runs like a champ now. Makes all the work worth it! Plenty of grins riding this one.

Found a couple of OEM mufflers and got rid of the fishtails. Much happier with the look and sound

That is the Milwaukee equivalent of the dreaded "antenna ring failure" and will require the latest satellite downloads from Munich AND Stuttgart to be rendered operational!

    Ha! Now I know.
Apparently it's pretty common and a result of careless work or too many Budweisers during installation.
Bike is really running well now, for a 41 yr old anyway.

I have been able to put quite a few miles on the bike and am actually heading out shortly for a couple of hours.
I hated those fishtails and have been searching for months for correct mufflers. Ended up finding one in AZ and one in Missouri. Probably came out cheaper buying 2 singles vs a matched pair.

Great ride today! Found Brushy MTN Rd near Dallas, GA. Nice curvy roller coaster ride. So much fun to scrape steel on a 700 lb bagger!

That area is a like a magnet for anything dropped in the general vicinity. I stuff a rag in there when I mess with anything above that area.

Here are some pix of a 1974 FXE, I sold this to a young friend looking for a project, it was pretty much all there but in bad condition. He did an awesome job on the restoration and added some nice custom touches. I asked him what he was going to do with it and he indicated he might consider selling in the future, he wanted to enjoy it for a bit. The last pix is how he got it. He did a complete engine, transmission, final drive rebuild. Nothing was left untouched. I think he did a great job.

That's gorgeous. It doesn't even look like it has been started.
I seem to remember seeing a photo of it it in its pre-restoration days before, Riggpigg - how long did the resto take?
    Cheers
    Philthy.

That looks like a bike that was for sale on Facebook in Illinois. Is it the same one?
