It does indeed help. I found a source and bookmarked it, will go back shortly and see what else I 'need' from the site and get it ordered. Thank you. Bruce
Latest project just needed a rear rack for the kayak far enough aft of the front one so it didn’t move around a lot at highway speeds. Then things got carried away. The kayak rack part is removable as well as the front rack when not needed. I thought about leaving it primered since I love olive drab so much but the matching truck paint was already in the shop.
I considered doing bed liner on it but when I had the bed of my truck sprayed my the local rhino liner shop they wanted an extra $175 to spray this step I made for my 93 y/o mom to get into the 2500 4x4. Need less to say I used a rattle can of bed liner on the step.
A new, smaller work PC meant getting another screen & running out of room on the standing desk/entertainment centre I built a couple of years ago. So I thought a fold away shelf to hold the laptop could be cool. It needed a really solid pivot though so it would sit level. Hmm.. what bearings do I have... A bicycle headset! So a crappy old set of forks & a surplus but pretty good Cane Creek headset were combined with a custom machined bearing housing: Add some more steel & a panel of rimu from an old piece of furniture... (Cable management is next on the list of office improvement jobs) Cheers Clint
Made a dog pergola to go with the new dog house. He uses the dog house when it rains but he usually lays under a chair when it is sunny, so I thought he might use this and it ties in with the dog house.
Back to back brilliance.... love the dogola. I like your standing desk I have been experimenting with my ikea desk legs fully extended with a teak boat platform on blocks. I added a dual monitor stand so I can change from sit to stand. I definately want a better laptop stand solution. I have a broken bike frame a fork and headset so this may help final design ideas. I should commit to small space to get rid of clutter. I like how clean your space is.
Really like your stitching and wet-mold results! Since we're on leather, I just finished this. Couldn't get my head around how to wet mold for this knife/handle outline though. Blade made from a cold-saw circular blade fragment, for a mate, I suggested why not choose a bit more fancy motive for the sheath. He asked if it could be a hand carved / worked / coloured picture of his late Rottweiler. That worked out ok (it actually looks like the photo he gave me, phew ), I went with double loop lacing to finish off the folded over edge.
I'm wanting to try a watch strap soon. Love the bag. That is nice work. I tried a wet mold using Horween, because it's all I had, for a key fob protector. Cutting out small sections sucks. Some of my recent stuff. Maybe a leatherworking thread is needed?
So follow up on the USMC headache rack, since I wanted the rack to follow the body lines, I realized when modifying the bottom corner of my storage box to fit the wheel well the top would not open. So more cutting and welding to make the lid open. I did leave room on the left end of the box for the front wheel of my DR. Now I have a place to put a fire extinguisher on the top of the box.
Easiest way is to wrap what you want to mould in kitchen cling film, then use lots of spring clips to hold it until dry (ish). LIke the sheath.
So this lock down thing got boring a while back, an I was out near the scrap pile when I eyed some stock. Nothing pressing that day, so I started shaping it up, and drilling it. Then an old piece of wood was cut out, some trunnions added to the sides of the barrel, and it was just in time for the Fourth. Then the GoPro came out, and I found some slow motion editing software .
There's a thread on bikeforums.com about using bike stuff in non-bike applications. This certainly qualifies and should be posted over there. I'll try to find a link.
