    The Kate Shelley High Bridge, Boone, Iowa. One of the longest and highest double track railroad bridges in the U.S. Old bridge built 1901, new bridge built 2009. The new bridge was designed to hold two trains simultaneously at 70 mph.

    I rode northeast of North Manchester Indiana to find the head of the Eel river, haven't found it or Dr. Livingston yet. Found a nice stone railroad crossing though. River is about 12ft wide here.

    Ten miles downstream and the river is about 25 ft wide. There was a gentleman with a fly rod said the bass were hitting well but were all under size. Just a typical cement bridge.

    095430A2-1C12-4514-B2CA-B3F8F1B39287.jpeg On October 4th the Eel river finally finished burrowing under the low head damn at the town of Collamer Indiana. In a couple of hours the river level dropped three ft. Went from a nice picturesque low head damn to a nature crime scene. The D,N.R. Says they will probably remove it this winter, it will be both a sad and happy ending for a great landmark.
