This was my first and only Cross Country motorcycle ride with my dad. Here we are on top of Pikes Peak, 2014 (Not his Bike, he was on a Gold Wing). Mom and dad got hit my a car on another Colorado trip the following year (2015) that messed up my Dad's leg pretty bad. He's riding around on old bikes these days (British and Honda's from the '60) and they bought a Camaro Convertible for traveling.

Dad and his two sisters, probably around 1950 or 51 and Dad last summer at an overlook near Hinton, WV on a ride with me. He's 75 now and doesn't like the long rides I like to take, but short ones are better than none.

I remember playing snooker at that base in 1988. Good times.

Interesting, I dropped in back in '88 doing my backpack around the world gig, things where certainly changing then.

Folks went back a couple of months ago, house where the pic was taken is now a busted-arse car garage/workshop, the hostel is gone, the school is a police/military training centre and the base is now run by the RMAF.
The Malaysian people are doing there best to rewrite their history, with very little reference to any colonial or Australian past involvement.

Next time I'm down in Northern NSW visiting the folks, I'll get a picture of dad riding his current bike and post it up here.

Wow, it’s been a few years. Don’t remember much. Just remember flying into there & playing snooker at the base club. Was in the U.S. Navy at the time & don’t remember exactly why we flew into there. That’s awesome that your dad had a bike there.

First motorcycle experience for me was riding as passenger on the back rack of a Honda trail 90. Lucky if I had a cushion to sit on. But cushion or not the rides sealed my fate as a motorcyclist and Honda fan.
