Describes my experience with the 900 version as well. It was in the '90's with high humidity here (Indiana) yesterday and I rode from 9:00 to 3:00 and noticed the warm pipes about three times--all at stop lights.
I'm shorter than Black Rhino at 5'11"--if that makes a difference. I have thought about decating mine as that is supposed to take a lot of the heat out from under the front heat shield, but it really isn't necessary.

Yep! It's a 2012 1050 SE
I'm uhhhh I'm on PR5's. I guess they're just Road 5's now. Would not recommend for dirt. Good for probably 5 out of 7 muddy crossings.

It’s a heavy mother to pick up in the mud! Ask me how I know.
I’m running Avon Trailriders. Been fairly pleased with them in dirt. The Mississippi mud clogs them up in a hurry but I think that’s true of any tire.
