SUMMIT POINT SIDECAR RON DEE VOO .Get the word out! Summit Point Raceway is an excellent venue and the folks there are great. A little history here. We began the ISOK back years ago when I was laid up from a motorcycle accident. In time we put on a rally called the RON DEE VOO. This was done for 5 years in a row and one year it was the largest sidecar rally in in the country. It was not totally informal but close. What you see below culminated through discussions with Bruce Stephens and Bill Ballou after we had had a few small get togethers down at Summit Point raceway. Take a look at what Bruce has written and by all means make plans to attend . If you don't have a great time at this event it is your fault. LOL Seriously lets SPREAD THE WORD .... LETS WORK TOGETHER TO MAKE THIS ALL IT CAN BE !!!! >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> June 27 – 28, 2015 – Sidecar Racers Association East. Summit Point Raceway, West Virginia - CCS. For more info see www.sidecarracers.com . PLUS......... June 27 - 28, 2015 – Summit Point Sidecar RON DEE VOO. A number of members of the Internet Sidecar Owners Klub, the High Performance Sidecar Club, the United Sidecar Association, Adventure Rider, and others, have attended this event in the past, first as an organized event known as the ISOK Ron-Dee-Voo, and most recently as an unorganized gathering of like minded sidecarists. It has been a lot of fun to say the least. In the past, some have camped or RV’ed at the race track and some have stayed at the Econo Lodge Motel www.econolodge.com/hotel-winchester-virginia-VA226… and others in Winchester, Virginia and the surrounding towns. Members attending have been known to arrive Friday afternoon and leave Monday morning. This is not an organized official rally of any sort, it is just an opportunity to have a good time hanging out with a bunch of sidecar people and support the sidecar racers and what they do. If you have never seen sidecar racing, you’re in for a real treat. If the conditions are favorable, the street legal sidecars have been given the opportunity to do a parade lap on the track as well. Some sidecarists even come earlier and stay later to take in the attractions in the area. For example visiting the historic areas of Charles Town, WV https://www.google.com/search…... , Harpers Ferry, WV https://www.google.com/search…... , Front Royal, VA http://www.tripadvisor.com/Attractions-g57755-Activities-Fr…... , etc. Some scenic drives in the area are: http://dc.about.com/od/daytripsgetaways/a/SkylineDrive.htm , http://dc.about.com/…/walking…/tp/Virginia-Scenic-Drives.htm , http://www.motorcycleroads.com/Routes/West-Virginia_124.html , http://www.motorcycleroads.com/Routes/Virginia_122.html . For a Fall 2015 sidecar gathering for the Ark-La-Ok-Tex region, we'll pitch-in with the Rich Mountain Rendezvous scheduled for September 17-20, 2015 at Queen Wilhelmina State Park along the Ok/Ark border near Mena, Arkansas. More info and registration are here: http://rmr4casa.com/ The rally is the annual fundraiser for the local CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) group - registration includes a t-shirt & several meals. Contact rally registrar Steve at drmoons@mangomoons.com for "non-internet" registration. Queen Wilhelmina State Park is on top of Rich Mountain at +/-2600 feet about 13 miles West of Mena, Arkansas on AR88/OK1 which is the Talimena National Scenic Byway:http://www.talimenascenicdrive.com/ Additionally, there are some good unpaved USFS and Polk County roads to the East and South of the park. The Lodge and Restaurant have been closed for renovations for the past couple of years, but re-opened July 1st. There are only 38 rooms in the Lodge and it's quite popular on the weekends - so please contact the Park early if you would like a room at the Lodge: http://www.queenwilhelmina.com/ or (800) 264-2877 or queenwilhelmina@arkansas.com. The next closest motels are down in Mena - various options can be found here: http://visitmena.com/stay/ And here is a lodging option 4 road miles from the Park along the base of of Rich Mountain:http://www.richmountaincabins.com/ Please contact the Park directly should you need to reserve an RV site: (479) 394-2863 or queenwilhelmina@arkansas.com. As more fully discussed on the Rendezvous site, there is a large area for tent camping (no hook-ups) that can be paid at pre-registration or to the rallymaster on-site: http://rmr4casa.com/your-rendezvous/camping-options/ Temperatures are generally 10* cooler at the park than down in Mena due to the elevation and camping can be very pleasant in late September; however, the campground is on the highest peak in the area which exposes it to clouds, fog & storms. Mrs. SwampFox & I plan to bring our tent this year - our preliminary plan is to arrive about 4pm Friday the 18th after an 11:30am lunch stop at Kenya's Diner in Dierks, Arkansas. Please join us for lunch should you be traveling the area South of Mena. Updates and further discussions re: meet-ups and rides are posted here: http://www.sidecar.com/mbbs22/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=13540&posts=6&start=1 and here: http://www.sovietsteeds.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=39475

Dallas/Ft Worth Ride for Kids (with cancer) this Sunday, Oct 11 at Texas Motor Speedway Just a quick invitation to an opportunity to have a great ride and help some families this Sunday and have some fun doing it. It's a special day for these kids with cancer when they get to ride with us and see and hear all the motorcycles. Come on out and in addition to the police escorted country ride we'll take, we'll likely do a lap or two on the TMS track before having lunch with some of these kids! https://www.facebook.com/events/562758223864177/ or http://pbtf.convio.net/site/TR?fr_id...y#.VhbLEE2FP6U Check out the video in my signature if you're unfamiliar with this event. It's top rated in surveys year after year. __________________ Come ride with us to save a child's life. You'll be glad you did. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_4jtsRQvP6c
TYVM for calling attention to the Ride for Kids. I'll be participating in the DFW/TMS ride for the first time and I'm really looking forward to it.
Great seeing so many dual sport bikes and sidecars (as well as all the street bikes) helping these kids. That may be the first time they had so many adventure bikes on the TMS track. Some photos of local stars at https://www.facebook.com/DFWRideforKids?fref=photo for those who didn't make it. These kids need a chance at life - long life, without cancer. Loved the GS/DMC rig and enjoyed talking with you, xrocket. Wasn't it great to put those smiles on their faces?
