Well, crap. I'll be in NB for the Fundy Rally the weekend before so I'm already half-way there. Could have a strong Vermont contingent if I can get the additional week off. Cabot Trail for a couple days then catch the ferry on Wednesday afternoon for Argentia.

Do it! We might be able to send a contingent down to Argentia to guide a run up the railbed to Whitbourne for the off-road types like we did in 2010 depending on the ferry schedule

Was going to do Nova the week before, now I think I’ll change that to Newfoundland instead. Count me in.

Well, double crappity-crap. If I'm in NL, why not just continue on north and do the Trans-Lab? Already a third of the way around the circle anyway... Just another 2100 miles to get back to Vermont (3380k for those of you in metric land).

Yikes! I'd have to give up NEAR and CroMag to have enough vacation time.

Only you can make that decision but CroMag should still be an easy one. I'm not going to get down there for yet another year.

Ok, we're stepping up some of the planning for this event, it would be great if people who are at least 80% sure of coming could chime in so I can get a sense of numbers?

    Thanks

Since the first event in '09 all consequent events have been in memory of ITSteve, Steve Doyle who was killed in a head on collision the day he was supposed to catch the ferry a week after leaving the first Skibum Soirée. He was a very warm and large personality in our local forum ridetherock.com and others. He is missed.

A few things lining up such as a group dinner Saturday evening at Grates Cove Studios, a fun mix of cajun and Newfoundland not too far away and a choice of all pavement or 1/3 dirt to get there.

One of our favourite local bands is hosting their annual BBQ on the Saturday as well, there is a maybe for a road ride there to say hi in the afternoon.

Depending on #'s the outdoor shower may be running, we ran the well dry last summer when RTWPaul & EvergreenE were there so that also depends on how much rain we've had. The solar shower is always an option.

The t-shirt design is pretty much finalized, I do not have prices yet. Decal design will be soon to follow.

There is more room in the apple orchard now that the big spruce that was in the middle of it came down around xmas. With any luck I'll have it cut up and out of the way by then.

No-one answered my last post, is anyone coming?

I’m riding somewhere that week so I’ll be there. I’ll be catching the ferry that Wednesday to Argentia if someone wants to share a cabin. I was also thinking of catching the Port aux Basque overnight ferry on Sunday coming back.

Where are you coming from? The scenery on the island is like no other on the continent I can promise you as I have travelled all over this continent and can speak from experience. :D

Harrisburg, PA... looks like it'd be a nice ride up and back.

It’s a nice run for sure, there’s guy on my thread on the BMW MOA thread who’s looking at taking the Argentia ferry over, anyone want to team up to share a berth?

    Ferry booked!
The exchange rate is treating us a lot better than last time we were on the rock in '14.

I am not 80% sure that I can make it. In fact my percentage of certainty has declined since finding out I am obliged to go to Scotland from Aug 6-16. Doesn't mean I'm out, but it looks unlikely at best. (Still gonna try, try, try though)

Dude! Do it! In other news...

Ok, this year’s shirt design is finalized and I personally think it looks great, same graphic artist as past years.

Price after tax is $35 CDN based on a minimum of 20. I’m setting it up so you can e-transfer the printer direct and I will pick them up to have waiting for you at the Rally. This will save me trying to manage it while I’m at work which I will be until not long before folks start showing up.

In the past you had to show up to get one with only one or two exceptions ever.

I’m thinking the cutoff to order will be August 10 to give Ken plenty of time to get them done.

Whoever is thinking of coming please chime in so I can get a list going.

If you’re curious about the shirt evolution over the years...I’ll see if I can drum up some pics of people wearing them.
