Originally posted on “Is Mexico Safe?” thread on May 3, 2018 First full day in CDMX has us getting @Halen a toll tag, enjoying some street tacos, meeting with @garrydymond for lunch, then rejoining Halen at a couple of bistros in the Roma district. Tonight we’ll hit one of the the popular speakeasies. In front of Banorte Riding to meet Garry at Sanborns across from the hospital After breakfast Garry shows me around the hospital grounds. Just inside the main entrance are the steps to the metro station. The facility was largely redone after the 1985 earthquake and this stunning mural commemorates those who rescued the many victims and those who rebuilt the city. Aaahh.....México Poorer folks who cannot afford hotels are provided for with facilities for camping on the hospital grounds. They break camp each morning and store their things under a covered walkway. Toilets and showers on the left. It was really good to spend time with Garry and hear how well Bonnie is doing. Then on to rejoin Halen at a couple of bistros. Maximo Bistrot is a top-rated bistro by one of our favorite tire manufacturers That right there is some great mineral water. The Mariachis? Meh Similar to ravioli and stuffed with foie gras Chocolate and vanilla dessert in memory of Hernan Cortez who introduced the two to Western Civilization

I don’t doubt it. These folks take making cocktails to an art form. Entertaining just watching the show. Will be back. We arrived at 8:30. Things picked up later. Enjoyed every Bacanora they had and most Mezcals Pretty good shtuff And then it was time to Uber home
Retired......never thought that would happen. When we finish our mission you will need to come down and visit. I have a friend in Fresnillo you need to meet. However I could never get her to go on a ride with me. Maybe you will have better luck. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Great thread and photos Skizzman. I have a visiting rider from Bristol UK, trying to get in touch with Taxco Guru Gustavo so I can send him that way and considering going with. He hasn't visited here since March 18, another way to contact?
Try reaching Gustavo through Airbnb. If you can’t then I’ll PM more info. I’m near SMA and heading south, BTW.
Great to hear you have retired. Work is way overrated. I will be in South America at least another year. How long till you get here? Ceviche in Peru is calling you!
Thanks! I’ve got some family responsibilities before I can travel much beyond México. Hope to meet up with you down there. Saludos!
