Completed a couple of short rides. Irene likes the new ride so this week we came up to ride the 3 sisters. I got off the bike and started a short hike and tripped and messed up my left hand. The hand is in bad shape and can’t clutch safely so pilot is coming up tomorrow to extract us tomorrow. Dumb stuff but it happens.
Got a rider coming through Corpus on a Triumph Scrambler needing tires. 21” front. Can you recommend a shop? TIA
When will he be coming through? I should be home tomorrow and would be glad to help if I can. I would say Dynamo is the best place if they have his size. Not a big place but they are good to work with. The owner is an olllllld Harley guy but he tries to run a good store. Have him get in touch if I can help.
So the plan was to leave Don Taco Beach Camp in Bahia San Agustin on Nov 20 for Acapulco and Casa @Grynch. Returning from dinner on the 19th the owner informed me that one couple had come down with fever. A camp wide meeting (11 of us) was called and we all agreed to a self-imposed lockdown until COVID test results came back. About five days. Everyone stayed in camp and the results came back negative on the 24th so I packed and rode to Acapulco yesterday. Sadly I was unable to stay and be properly introduced to the city, or enjoy tonight’s Thanksgiving meal, as I have business to conduct in Guanajuato tomorrow. So I left Acapulco at 8am and arrived in Guanajuato tonight at 6pm. Last sunrise in Bahia San Agustin for awhile MEX200 all the way What Google Maps assumed is that motorcycles are allowed on the autopista upper level in México City. Not so. That and massive construction zone traffic stretched the ride to ten hours Ever have one of those roadside meals that leaves you feeling like you dodged a bullet when you didn’t get sick? One of the coolest México hostals I’ve stayed in. Look closely to see the GS lurking Once the bike was unloaded I chugged a liter of water then set about arranging my Thanksgiving spread on the rooftop terrace Two Mexican beers and a bag of pistachios. Happy Thanksgiving! There’s an R1250GS hiding down there somewhere View from my room
Sorry Skizz , for not getting in contact with you in time for your ride into Acapulco a few weeks ago. It looks like you stayed at the old Moto Cross track across from the military airport in Pia De La Cuesta. Five days in in lockdown screwed up your schedule. I am glad you at least got to spend the night on your ride back north. Hopefully, next time I will be there! All
Found a massage therapist in San Agustin who put the rib back into the spine as I’d already fixed the front. As I was explaining what I wanted him to do my rib popped back into the spine with so much force that he asked, “so I guess you weren’t expecting that big a pop?” Rib separations really suck but I can still enjoy riding.
The inevitable tightening of the México border has begun..... https://www.themonitor.com/2020/11/...sI1UY9Jlb1r_AC4AVqzLpUvz6OcExDhpoKJkg_a9XNDlE
Bad enough to need the green can of OFF. The orange can doesn’t get it done. To my knowledge Canadians can still fly direct.
