Hey y’all, here comes the ...

2019 ADV SLAP Rally - Squeal Like a Pig!

The quick and dirty on year 15(!) for you tl;dr types. Pay attention long enough to note the changes to this year’s event:

    When: May 3-5

Where: Mulberry Mountain Lodge, Ozark AR

Cost: FREE! You will arrange your own camping with Mulberry Mountain. You will also arrange for your own food and beverages. See below for info.

What do I get for FREE? You get to hang with friends in a beautiful spot, ride your motorcycle where and when you want, and say you were there. What you don’t get is an organized rally. There will be no routes or tracks given out, no organized rides led by anyone affiliated with SLAP, no money changing hands for the privilege of being part of SLAP. The long-winded explanation is below if you’re interested.

Will there still be T-shirts?: Yes.

What’s with all the changes? I hate change!

Grab a cold one and have a seat. Deep breaths. Feel better? OK! Here we go.

We changed the venue and date because there’s a huge group of off-roaders scheduled to be at Byrd’s, our venue for the last few years, on our usual May weekend. And by huge I mean about 4,000 people. No joke. We didn’t want to share a campground, trails, roads, restaurants and bathrooms with that mob, and you don’t either. Trust us.

Mulberry Mountain is only a few miles from Byrd’s. It’s got primitive camping, RV spots, cabins, showers, a store with supplies, direct access to OHV trails, even disc golf. Ask your hippie friends, it's a nice place.

The registration fee is gone because of forest service policies. If we take your money and send you out on National Forest Service land, we get into permit territory, and that’s a hellscape we’d rather avoid. So please understand the following before you decide to show up:
    • Think of SLAP as a campout will cool friends, not an organized event. You are not paying anything to attend, and you are not receiving any services from us.

    • You are responsible for making your own camping arrangements with Mulberry Mountain. The place is enormous. They will have space for you.

    • You are responsible for your own food and beverages. Any food, swag or beverages on hand will be provided via donations.

    • SLAP will not provide any tracks, routes or guided rides. You are 100 percent responsible for where, when and how you ride.
With that bullshit out of the way, let’s get philosophical for a sentence or two. What’s This ADV thing about anyway? For us, it’s about quality time in The Natural State’s beautiful outdoors. We’re less interested in swag, grub, posh venues, swilling beer … OK, we’re still pretty interested in that. But those other things, eh, take ‘em or leave ‘em. This year we needed to strip the rally down to the essentials, keep what really counts and ditch the rest. We may be back to form next year, or we may decide returning to the roots of this gathering, which began as a campout in the Missouri woods all those years ago, works better. Join us and we’ll find out together.

There is no registration list, no deadline, so the second post is simply a list of people who might show up. PM me if you want to be on it. Scan it for the names of your buddies or the people on your ignore list, but that’s all it means.

T-shirt info and ordering will be addressed later in a separate post.

    See you at Mulberry Mountain!

This is my local riding area.

I’m happy to lead a full size ADV ride of any length and terrain anyone would like.

Get a group up and recruit me as navigator, or fall in with our group.

I typically ride pretty... well... I get 6-700mi per rear tire. I pass everything on the road except cafe’s and pie - of which there will be a few.

"In" ish- Perhaps the Tulsa Tuesday Pub Crawl can create an outreach to riders who cannot haul beverage or food to the campsite.

Takes a lot of kegs to make a ton.

Takes a lot of Krabapple moonshine to "do the ton", but that's a different story.
