.....about ten million hyperactive Boy Scouts.
It wasn’t that bad, only 10 thousand.
That's terrible. I'm disappointed. Everyone knows the correct way is bolt cutters.
You mean the same time as slap or last weekend?
Just relating an experience about 5 or 6 years ago when a few of us chose to camp at Redding during SLAP to avoid the late night noise. Well.....everything was going well until about two dozen Boy Scouts set up camp next to us. Needless to say, we chose poorly.
Ok I may be there early Saturday morning on the GSA. I’m thinking of a slab ride up 23 over to Ponca and lunch at Low Gap. Then over to Jasper and catch the AR Dragon and back on 16 to Mberry Mt.
No guarantees- y’all know how reliable I am. If’n you want to do a big bike slab tour and don’t mind following a moron jump in.
She said she won't attend this year
I’m riding with another inmate on a very similar route, all pavement.
0800 meet up, run down to Catalpa for breakfast, then approx route you describe but counter clockwise. Lunch at Low Gap or somewhere over there.
Feel free join us as well.
I’m on the wrapped Ktm, so I’ll be easy to spot. Not camping so will arrive in morning
Anybody else already have their rig loaded?
I must be either anxious to skip town or just excited to ride for 4d straight. Still haven’t finalized a plan to get from SLAP to my race on Sunday. Will figure it out eventually.
. Either way works. I just like going uphill on the tight curves on the north to south route.
right on... we may go South on 103....but we'll go North on 123.... so..... no bad days either way.
Also, who knows how the day unfolds, maybe we end with a S on 21 and back N on 103.....?
I never know the preferred riding style of folks until we get into it, so pace and riding style will matter a lot on how much ground is covered.
Going North to South, isn't that down hill? Ha ha
Here are some routes and tracks that I put/pulled together for those that may want something. Nothing fancy and I did not include many waypoints other than a few restaurants and the campground.
I'm in for a Saturday ride. Will be hauling my 625 SXC up on Friday night after work with plenty of beer and firewood.
what kind of beer? I might camp by you.
The good stuff
Here is an interesting exercise in the what if‘s of rally planning. The link below is to the river forecast for the Mulberry River. So the rhetorical question is- “would we have to evacuate this weekend if SLAP was hosted at Byrd’s or would the park be closed prior to our rally?”
The rivers where I work in NeOK will be in flood stage until Monday.
if we have to evacuate Mulberrymountain, we have bigger problems to deal with!
Corollary question: If we had gone to bed Saturday night feeling a wee bit tipsy, would we have a headache when they shined a flashlight in our faces at 4 am and told us the river was three feet from our tent?
So, river crossings this weekend will have an extra element of fun it would seem.
