Dibs on an egg mcmuffin!
Primitive sites don't have picnic tables
Mulberry campsite recap-
The campsite was pretty nice, the bathrooms (which need a code to access) are a LOT nicer than Byrd's, at least at the RV site.
RV things to know-
1) No pads and you are lucky to get gravel.
2) BBQ grills are not available at all sites
3) Utards flock to this area and will be drinking and utarding into the wee hours of the morning especially on Saturday night
4) Dump station is accessible in 2 directions.
5) Some hook ups are located on the North end of the primitive site, which I feel would be ideal for our gathering.
Primitive camp sites-
1) Spacious and away from the RV site, which might be beneficial for sleeping.
2) not many tables or fire pits
We would not return to the RV campsite for any future family trips due to the after drinking 3:00 am Neon Utard show that happened while we were there on Saturday night. Evidently this was offensive to the others that I camped with, however I had no problems because I medicated myself with some ice cold dunkel before I crawled into my hammock.
Drone Fly over:
(micro DVR footage, low quality, turn down your speakers)
60ft and 30ft falls:
1 mile hike down to the falls from the camp ground. $300 ticket if you are motoring on that trail, FYI.
Excellent scouting report, sir. Here's hoping for a generous utard buffer zone.
Randy (I think that is his name) said he has SLAP on his Calendar and is ready. He suggested showing up at off peak times and not in super large groups. We ate there on Saturday and it was really good, he had some homemade ice cream cake which I would recommend.
Oark looked crowed as usual on Saturday around lunch time.
Thanks for the recon work. I had reserved RV site 1, but am switching to primitive. The primitive is "blocked off" on their current online reservation system and the nice lady on the phone is checking out why. Probably because it's booked for SLAP, but she was unsure.
Last year there was a couple smoking weed and having loud *** until 4 or 5 in the morning in the rv area. My wife suggested we rev the 2-stroke next to their tent at 6am when we got up to make coffee. Cooler heads prevailed.
Edit: just spoke to Darlene in the office - primitive is 1st come 1st served.
Thx for the scouting, @Newner.
So... who from our TTPC crew is arriving earliest to tape off our highly-exclusive hammock/tent city?
I'm thinking I'll be there mid-day Thursday at the earliest.
Assuming things workout as planned, @thezbone and I will be rolling in Wednesday night.
I'll post the sitrep if there's cell service, otherwise look for a white Canyon with 6x12 trailer.
Word. I'll be in my silver Xterra with, at minimum, my g450x on the hitch.
Here's to hoping this is on the outskirts of utardville so I minimize the stupidity.
Count me in for this. I haven't rode in NW Arkansas in a couple years. Really looking forward to it.
Sounds like fun. I will try to attend. Maybe even round up a few buddies.
that is a great recon report but holy crap you need a new drone!
So disappointed!!! Will be the first SLAP event I have not attended since 2011. I'm sure it will be a true adventure as always.
Will be attending the Big Bear Dual Sport event in CA in June: https://www.bigbeartrailriders.com/content.aspx?page_id=22&club_id=849383&module_id=20431&sl=1002084620 not that far of a drive..., would be nice to see some of you there! Otherwise, I will keep my sights on SLAP 2012.
I found the SLAP GPS tracks/routes thread over in Mapping and Navigation. Does anyone have any "favorite" BIG bike compatible routes/tracks they'd like to suggest?
I'm up for road rides or dirt roads. I'm looking for rides that have a cool place to eat along the way. I really just want to get out and ride the scenic backroads at SLAP this year on the Tenere.
Let me know what you've got...
Just follow me.
It's a trap! 17 water and log crossings later....
You’ll certainly be missed. Hope to see you again soon.
I'll be there on the GSA Thursday night or Friday am, any suspension wizards joining in the festivities by chance?
Figured we’d start with this
