Long past time to put this report to bed... :bueller

Sunday's class had the larger number of riders, and generally bigger bikes than Saturday. And substantially better weather.

Again, the morning was spent doing drills at the wasteland.

After lunch, we set out for the trail. Although the skies were clear, there was plenty of evidence of yesterday's rain.

Some of the crew took a bit to adjust to the conditions.

Who says GS's aren't water cooled?

Several miles later, we emerged onto a section of fast dirt roads, enroute to the "slickrock". The rock pitch offered an excellent venue to put our newfound braking and body position skills to the test.

Nice pictures Pack. We gotta get some of the western desert guys out this way to try our mud and water. Next May, mabe for the 1 State Dualsport. Hasn't failed to rain for that event yet. Looks like you all had fun. Thanks for the report.

For the sake of full disclosure (I think I mentioned it earlier, too), while most of the pics came from my POS sony, I did cull the best selections from other participants, too. :thumb

After the slickrock, some of the group decided to call it a day, and retire in one piece. The foolhardy remainder continued on to the really good stuff. :evil

We're the kinder, gentler bikers, donch'a know...

After some fun class VI, some fast dirt roads, and a gnarly rocky uphill, we came to the muth'a of all water crossings. Beez plowed across first to catch pics of the rest of us. What a guy. :slurp

With everyone safely on the other side, we set off for the last section of powerlines standing between us and cold beer. :yum

At the end of a long hard day, it was diffficult for Thierry to beat the self-timer.

Eventually (after enough heckling) he made it! I couldn't have asked for a better crew.

In addition to the clinic skills, a side benefit was getting to test ride a few different bikes. Jeff let me ride his KTM, and lo and behold, a few weeks later there's an LC4 in my garage... :deal :wings
    [IMG]

After we cleared the trail, we set off for a local pub to down a few pints. The bench racing was almost as much fun as the day's riding. :freaky

All in all, I can't thank Ned enough for coming out to do the clinic for us. :bow THANK YOU, Ned!!! In addition to learning a ton, I made a great friend. Ned's a class act. :thumb

If Ned's putting on a clinic within striking range of where you live, you owe it to yourself to make the time to attend. :nod It was remarkable to watch the progress people made in just a short time -- as Ned says, the best thing you can buy for your bike to make it ride better IS GAS!!!

I was on top of that rock again yesterday. What great memories came back as I looked through this thread.

I now live in the area of this rock. I really wish I knew which trails and roads we used that day 14 years ago.

Long time ago. How many of the original crew are still riding. I've met beez and cap'n crunch years ago. Probably a few others.
