I met Turnsleft at the S. Skagit
    Park & Ride

    we headed up FS 17

first Big View stop looks toward the Bay over Skagit Valley

then we head over to FS1730

2nd Big View looks east to Glacier Peak
    [IMG]

    then west to Mt Baker
    [IMG]

south overlooking the valley we came up
    [IMG]

    then we headed up FS1705
    [IMG]

our trusty steeds with a Big View

Big View was blocked by this small slide

then a Big View of this old monster
    [IMG]

then on down to the BirdsView...

    for this Big View

I looked for you two on the other side of the valley when I got to the glacier. I made it up to the red dot. My legs hurt!

Tom showing up at the appointed place and time. Off we go for some 17-18 FS fun.

Looking out towards Tom's domicile. He said something about fog and
    cold.

    Looking kinda towards the SE.

    More towards the south.

Glacier Peak, what a cool day to go riding.

Thanks for the burger and fries and showing me the other big fir tree. Only
been by it ten times without seeing it.:lol3 The fast red one still gets better gas milage than the green one. Seen three grouse and one snake. Good ride.

:wave Lorne, I kept looking at Baker but didn't see ya over there.

Have you been up that high on Railroad Grade, Tom? It looks like the moon or mars in some places. I'd love to ride a sled up there! Let's drag the Cap'n up there before the snow starts to fall. Mmmmmmmmmmmmkay?

Did you see any Whistlin' Jacks? A few of them waddled right up to me, probably begging for some snacks. :D

I haven't been that High before Loren. I have seen
those Woolley Marmot's. I talked with some one
from the east coast who thought they were badgers.:nod
We'll get a sled and you can drag me and the Capt. up there.:thumbup :eek1

I'm thinking it's tough to be a Marmot on Mt Baker.
So, who fired the bloody missle over by Glacier?

Is the Marmot related to the beaver?

Was it the guy with two dogs at Sauk Mountain that said that? The three of you were talking to him on this switchback while you were waiting for me.

Location is everything. Imagine the traffic jam on Granite Mountain on a sunny fall weekday, compared to Loren all by himself up at Baker.

If you want more stunning views and a little more work, put on some snow capable boots and climb Ruth Mountain. Possibly some of the best mountain views in the world, not just the beautiful Northwest. Call me if you want company.
