Congrats! How did that Rubicon do keeping up with the bikes? Did you go on big frog rd?

Nice! How was your weather? Sure looks perfect in the photo.
How long did it take for the Jeep to get around?
I’m already thinking about a second trip in October with the wife in our 4x4.

Lets just say the jeep driver was a mad man and kept up with the bikes no problem. We averaged 25 mph over the entire day.

We did the entire Sm500 and did not take any detours so I would say we hit big frog rd if it is on the track. Not exactly sure where it is.

We have a group of about 6 that is going to start from TWoS on Sunday 10/11 and run the red route to camp at Iron Horse. Stay one day and ride that area. Then on Tuesday 10/13 we are going to ride the yellow route to Tellico Plains and camp there a day before returning to TWoS via the green route on
10/15. WR250R, CRF250L, TTR250, GS, and two guys that I don't know what they are riding. Any tips appreciated. I have the WR250R with IMS 3.1 Gal tank and a 1 Gal rotopax in reserve. No problems with gas on the route huh?

You may want to join the sm500 facebook group. It's much more active and you receive more current Intel on guys who have recently completed it. Some of the things to look out for are a possible road closure south of tellico plains and too high water crossing also south of tellico plains. Wayne at https://cmtrails.com/ is a great source of Intel in that area and super nice. Definitely stay at his campground. And not a bad a idea to bring a saw just in case

The WR shouldn't have any problem, I'm not sure about the ttr or the crf though. I had mine down there with the 4.7 IMS and didn't have any problem at all.

TTR250 at 2.7gal with 55-60mpg should be good.

As of last Fri and Sat, the CMTrails campground was closed due to the wife of owner sick with Covid. Call before going there as I am unsure how long the closure will be.

I downloaded the SM500 file from the facebook page. Loaded it into Basecamp. I then sent the Red, Yellow, and Green tracks to my Garmin 396. Just for fun I converted the tracks to routes and they seemed to follow the tracks spot on. Sent those as well along with a few choice day rides when at Iron horse and CMT. This trip was all my idea so if there is a screwup its on me haha

Enjoyed our first crack at the 500. Did most of the Green, half of the yellow and a little red. We must be slow because I don’t see how you do a leg a day and see anything. Can’t wait to go back!
