Well... the planets have aligned, bribes have been passed, and I've freed up the weekend. While I have no friends in the club (yet), I am a friend of the marque and would like to come down and play - if it's not too late to throw my hat in the ring. Heaven knows I follow the WNY & Finger Lakes Breakfast and general BS Thread, but scheduling has never worked out to get out and meet anyone. I sure would like to change that.

Old Lion -If you're still looking to fill the cabin you've reserved, I'll help cover the cost and book a bunk. I don't snore, I promise.

I plan on visiting this vineyard because the vineyard
is on land that my in-laws used to farm during the 1960s.

I farmed it on the adjacent farm to the south.
    House still standing, barn gone.

    Precious memories.

Thanks to George for all the run-up work he did in promoting this rally here, and for route advice. Not to mention taking the lead on the cabin and giving me a spare set of ear plugs for the ride home (they worked great)!

Before too much time slips by, I want to thank the BMW Motorcycle Club of North Jersey for sponsoring the rally and showing this Triumph rider a good time. Great riding and great company!

I squeezed in an approximately 275 mile route on Saturday (with assistance from Old Lion's posts in the days leading up to the event), managing to hit Rt. 590 (the Vas Deferens of the Dragon) at the beginning and at the end:

The highest point in New Jersey - the monument at High Point State Park:

A spectacular view of three states:

Neversink Reservoir (I rode the edge of Pepactin Reservoir, as well):

I want to offer many thanks to Old Lion for his hospitality and engaging conversation; and to Spoke, Ellen, and JFslater98 for enduring tales from my soapbox!

Sunday dawned clear & cool (My head, as well as the weather - see jfslater98's post for highlights of Saturday night).
Following a hearty breakfast in Eldred, Old Lion and Borghi consented to having me tag along as they worked their way back to Central New York. Of course, there had to be some stops along the way.

First stop, Catskill Distilling Company. I love the functional beauty of the equipment:

Old Lion admiring all that copper:

Of course, after some judicious tasting, I couldn't leave without a little something:

And since we were just down the road, a brief pilgrimage to the site of the original Woodstock Music & Art Fair:

From there, it was 150 scenic miles back to Chateau Corbeau. Again, my thanks to everyone involved!
I look forward to doing it again - maybe Oktoberfest this weekend?
