Well, had a plan to go to Copper Canyon, MX in April, but we are now thinking up a Plan B for obvious reasons.

Want to do AZBDR North to South, then link over to NMBDR and do it North.

However, a tad on the early side, so our concern is snow pack on roads in the mountain areas of those routes. Anyone have any 411 on the conditions in those areas now and estimate on around mid-April?

    Gracias!

real tough to predict right now,,, as you know its been a very active and wet season. snow pack is one thing, the mud you'll encounter on sections of both BDR's is another.

Ha! Fixed to NM. But let me know when we can ride NW.

2 Spot: yep, agree, mud will be a reality. And agree, hard to predict with almost 4 weeks to go. We'll just keep an eye on it and if anyone has any beta on this, please let us know!

Been wondering why I don't hear about Copper Canyon MX much anymore. We just got back from Sonora MX and had no worries.

May I ask what your obvious reason was?

Well, they shut down the boarder to only necessary travel. Kinda killed the plan. Glad to hear you made it back in time though.

My plans are also kinda tenuous. Was going to start the NVBDR and IDBDR in June. I'm thinkin the snow is still flying even now!! So, short of a really hot/dry spring the passes will be impassable. That and the C19 will undoubtedly push me later.

There is a very strong chance, especially with the excessive moisture we have gotten and continue to get, that the gates will not be open by then. The forest will likely be closed still, unless we stop getting moisture right about now. And, as has been said, if it's muddy, you will NOT have a good time. You'll go between pinging between greasy rocks, to digging clay out of your wheels to get them to turn again, low fender or not.

OR it could be hero dirt for days with a super-bloom...you never know.

I live in Northern AZ (Flagstaff). As of now snow should not be much of an issue. Might hit a few patches in the shaded areas but shouldn't be much of a problem. The mud could be a bigger issue. It's not too bad now but keep an eye on the weather, it we get any rain will turn into a quagmire pretty fast. Can't speak for southern AZ.
