Got a wild hair to paint my tank.

2 hours to strip decals under heavy clear coat.

    3 hours to wet sand.

1 rattle can of Krylon Fusion gloss black, and put the black number plates back on. (James'd the side covers. :nod )

I'm thinking I may paint the bottom half, or all the fairing too... maybe.

Hey James... black and orange?... all black? :lol3

I stuck it on for a minute... looks pretty :choppa ... that's why I shot the photo with the seat off. :lol3

May have to de-pimp the seat to a solid black, or maybe grey. :dunno

Think I should shoot the fairing too?

Yeah, go black with the fairing, looks like you have got good depth to the paint job, can be difficult with black, only problem I can see is that it can look tatty pretty quick after a bit of off road has scratched the paint up, so you might want to consider a good thick coat of laquer.

That's why I rattle can'd it. Wasn't going for the show paint job but more a "get a big boo boo, wet sand and re-rattle can it" paint job.
The Krylon Fusion is some pretty impressive stuff for a spray bomb paint, nozzle is a nice adjustable fan pattern, gloss is OK, sticks well to plastic and damn near anything else too... even shoots well in cool temps.

Well, maybe the fairing... with orange fenders and handguards. Still have a blue and orange seat to contend with though :lol3

Already got some blue jumbo KTMs from matey peepers a few months ago... big as the orange ones (maybe bigger) Passy was considering.

I get my money this week, so it will be another week or two before I feel well prepared to start work. AFekete (Andrew) said he would send me the heads off his GS as soon as I'm ready... funny thing is, I'll have to buy BMW specific tooling to do them. :lol3

Your pimp seat would suit my color scheme well. Will an '03 seat pan fit a '99 bike?

There, now you'll never do it

You don't ride this bike. You can't fool me. Once in a while, you selectively toss some mud here and there and take a pic and tell us you went on a ride. :)

Now that Creeper went black, he's never going back.:poser :poser:poser

With that seat and his new color scheme his bike almost qualifies for that TV show "Pimp my ride" :lol2

[IMG][IMG]I'm doing a similar, but far less glam thing to my little critter...

I must admit a feeling of treachery to be losing the orange, but all black is the way to go here I think. Fenders, light shroud and grips next. Fork guards and powder coating the frame later.

Almost forgot the seat... go'knows where I'll get that blackified over here though.

Aaaagh, damnit, I can't get the gallery login to open... Sorry, no pics. Ugly bug anyway. But I like it.

Yours looks great though. Do the tank! Jem

    Hiya Creep :wave

Here is what I think... Paint the fairing black as well - I really like the way the gloss is looking :nod As cool as the gloss is looking I think the side covers need some gloss as well:nod

I think the orange fender(s) and hand guards are going to throw things off - they will take your eye away from the overall bike. Go all gloss black.

Get the seat recovered in black with some stitching to match your choice of decal colors...

Hit the side with a fatty KTM decal (blue or orange would look great!!!!) and then begin with judicious application of other decals (James's Red Bull being a great example of this...)

Finish off with some black rims (a la Colin's) and you are :thumb

Just my .02 from the Rhino guy, what do I know :dunno

    Dearest Uncle Spraycan,

My vote (which will likely be completely disregarded) is that all black is so "been there, done that".

Gimme an orange fairing (color matching challenge, but you're up to it).

Redo the Bo' seat to black and orange (black suede, orange GripTex sides).

    Now we're talkin' :freaky
