Sounds like you and Mrs. Mayhem are already socked in for the winter V...

I'll do my best to take you along for the ride so you can have a virtual ride along the BDR...

Have a great ride. How many miles will you roughly? I mean 1 way.

    B8 update...

Spotted B8 traveling Eastbound on HWY 76 @ Rancho Del Oro at 11:13 today. Bike is quite stealthy.

No pic as I was driving too.

    Carry on.

I spent the night camping out on BLM property in Holtsville. On the way I stopped in Borrego Springs and Salvation Mountain since I took mostly back rounds to get to Yuma, the start of the CABDR.

Scarfing down some breakfast at McD’s and it’s off on Section 1...

Hi Rudy, looking good. I finally started a thread about my rides over the years. I wondered where you wonder camp, funny thing is my neighbor in Canada, spends his time there.

    Section 1 is complete...

I’m at a Super 8 in Blythe tonight... I didn’t want to deal with taking down camp and packing... The XT has an oil leak, looks like it’s coming from the cam chain tensioner. I hope I can tighten it up in the morning and then I have to go to Loves 15 minutes away to find some oil...

Anywho... I just learned how to ride deep sand and gravel on Section 1. Didn’t drop the bike... but had to dab the foot and stop the bike a couple of times when things got squirrelly...

Took tons of photo, more than I should have and spent to much time on Section 1. By the time I reached Blythe it was 5:30 pm...

Hopefully I can stop the oil leak, if not I will just keep an eye on it and buy a quart of oil to take with me...

I looked over the XT this morning, the leak looks like it’s coming from a bad gasket between the cylinder. Nothing I can do about it now but just keep an eye on the oil level when I stop.

With the exception of this oil leak, the XT is otherwise running well. I can’t fault it for a 38 year old gasket...

I’m headed out to go find some Rotella 15W-40 and leaving for Section 2...

I've had oil leaks that looked really bad but the actual amount of oil lost was pretty small. Hopefully that's the case here.

Safe travels Rudy, we’ll be waiting patiently for your awesome photos and RR.
I also had an oil leak on the he TTR that seemed really bad, but when checked the level it was ok.

    Section 2 is complete...

I’m in Needles, CA glamping in a KOA cabin, will write more about it in the RR... basically the CABDR takes a toll the body... at least on my old beat down body...

Dropped the XT twice today low speed rock crawling on each side. At least they are a match set now... :lol3 I took a pic of one at the Intaglios track but not the other, was too concerned about the fuel leaking out... Better brush up on rock and sand skills cuz’ you’ll need them in Section 2...

I’m camping for the evening at Nipton Trading Post...

By far, Section 3 is the easiest... though is does have loose sand in some spots when compared to Section 1... Tomorrow I’m headed up to Furnace Creek in Death Valley...

Everyone needs a labotomy from time to time. You actually EARNED this one.

Enjoy the rest of your ride!
