I installed adjustable rear shocks and spent a couple of days dialing the preload on the firm side in preparation for the trip...

I'll try to get one the next time I get the Monkey out...

    Gardena Bowl...

Sam had invited me last month to come check out his place in Gardena so I decided to make a day trip out of it. I've been wanting to explore LA County for a change in motography scenery...

Google estimated about two and a half hours so I left just before 8 am to give myself a buffer and some time for motography. Long story short; it was another blah morning for motography because of the June gloom marine layer, I left later than planned so I hit traffic at all the beach cities on the PCH, and I didn't get to any of the waypoints I planned to visit... HOWEVER, I spent a couple of hours visiting with @sealsam and @villageidiot and getting to know them a little bit more... It was great shooting the b/s with the two of them since we share the same ADV passion... Having written back and forth in each other's threads, it felt like I had known them for a while when in fact this is only the second time we've ever met...

Although I missed motographing my waypoints, overall a great day spending the afternoon with fellow inmates... It just gives me another reason to ride up to Long Beach and Rancho Palos Verde for more seat time... :ricky

another drab morning for motography with the June Gloom marine layer ever present... so common that we have a saying of "May gray and June gloom..."

We were so busy jaw-jacking and throwin' down on some Hawaiian lunch plates that I forgot to take photos... time flies when you're in the presence of good company...

    Thanks again Sam and Colby...

    "happy wife, happy life..."

I have been without a truck for about nine years now when I gave up my Ram 2500 for a family SUV... I really haven't missed it much since I was still working full time, during which I mostly used my motos for commuting to and from work. This was waaaayyyyy before I discovered adventure riding.

I've been thinking about getting a cargo van for the past year or so to haul a bike for glamping adventures. This week I decided to test drive a whole bunch of vans, SUVs, and full size trucks but none seem to fit the bill until I drove the newly rehashed Ford Ranger in Supercrew configuration...

It just felt cozy as opposed to the others that felt enormous both in handling and feel... Mrs. B8 was all for it since I was getting rid of my not so family friendly Mustang... Yesterday was a long day but in the end I have a truck again that will take my adventures to a whole new level. Being able to haul a bike and extended supplies means I have some staying power at a campsite from which to launch exploration rides. Then at the end of the day when I come back to camp... I can break out the steaks, beer from the cooler, and relax by the campfire... afterwards I can call it a night in my Catoma tent to enjoy some glamping...

If you need more speed, a chip drops 0 to 60 time by a good 2 seconds or so. Very tunable engine.

Thanks Colby... now I can carry as much wood as I want to burn instead of paying almost $10.00 for a bundle of wood at DV...
