A Saturday morn zip around the area in some pretty calm conditions, SoCal has been under attack this week with our annual Santa Ana weather conditions, wind & dry! Less than 10% humidity has lit up the foothills with fires everywhere, fortunately all good out along the coast, sadly a few lives lost as a result of the fires.

    Looking around downtown LB,

Heading to the port finding back roads that I've never been on before that included a couple of interactions with security guards :ace, can't look at crap anymore with everyone shooing us lookie loo's away. :ksteve

Interesting history on the Sea Launch Commander built by the US, Russia, Ukraine & Norway in the 90's, now nearly wholly owned by Russia. It is a sea based satellite launch system responsible for nearly 40 satellites that are orbiting earth, you most likely use a few of them too, ie; DirectTV, XM etc..

New plug, tires, oil change & a small sip of Sea Foam-the Helix is running and riding just as good as it ever has. She sure is fun! Even one of the security guards kept me for 5 minutes quizzing me about it and scooters in general, maybe we've indoctrinated another one.:D

    Thanks for lookin' in.

speaking of @villageidiot, Mercedes mechanic extraordinaire, I caught this at the port the other day and was wondering about the new 'wind-up' Mercedes that may be coming.:confused Hybrid, electric...screw em all, this is modern technology!

Also, I caught this well used XT250, it reminded me of @black 8 and his newly purchased XT that he is currently going through. Cool bike.

You have your SR-51 Blackbird, blimps, Queen Mary, etc.

And the many murals that Sam posts (I love the murals and need a few new ones posted).

We have corn and manure. And we have mint.

I went from the Helix to the CRF-L to the Majesty in a very short time the other day,

when it finally hit me....cuz I honked at the dude in front of me while meaning to turn on my turn signal.:hmmmmm

Is there no standardization in these things?? The wasp, Maj & Helix all have the horn on the bottom(now I gotta go look), the CRF is opposite. When I jumped on the Honda, about to make a turn, HONK. The dude in front of me was eyeing that mirror as I was waving a big 'SORRY for that'.

I really like the horn on bottom, it's just a more natural thumb move for me.

    :loco:loco

I can never find the horn on the Honda's when I want to because of that.

    Try Harley!

Really can't find the buttons then!

Quick overnighter down to Borrego, house check & yard work....and exercised Ripper. Still warm in the desert but it is starting to come alive, golf course are green, clubhouses are open, more folks starting to roam, a few more restaurants opening. All good.

    Late this afternoon cruising,

What did I say about more folks:loco

4:45 at the AB State Park Visitors Center, nobody around, GREAT!

I had a huge problem hitting the downshift button on my NC700XD when I wanted to sound the horn instead. Soon after getting the bike I was on a paved forest road stuck behind a tourist doing 20 MPH on a road posted for 40 MPH. It has always been my habit to toot the horn twice when beginning to pass someone and when I pulled into the opposite lane to pass the slowpoke I hit what I thought was the horn button but hit the downshift trigger instead. The bike just about shot out from under me after dumping two gears and passed the car so fast I was barely able to hold on. Here is my fix I posted to the NC700 foruum: https://www.nc700-forum.com/forum/n...l-button-estension-post130047.html#post130047
