It'd be nice but no way to justify, not as little riding as I do. It's hard enough just to keep the CRF around, I justify it for Moab.

BUT, the other day in the sand sucked!! I was gunna leave the CRF in Borr but ended up bringing it home, umm.

Sam's should be for sale soon. He never has a kind word for the poor thing. And he hates shifting.

Put in your dibs, and be 1st in line.

One day in 'Sand University' and you would be fine with the CRF250L.
The trail to Tower Arch (10 Miles, exhausting) is just that schooling.
I did that with my DRZ400S and did not go down even once and easily kept up with the group.

    Imu

and a great hike awaits you after an exhausting ride.

    :wave jon,

Yep, hate shifting, been doin' it for 50 years, tired of it.

Thanks for pointing out on my negativity with this bike, it sure didn't help the month in the shop that it spent and the fight with Honda Corp. Yeah they finally came around a put out an official recall on these bikes, that didn't help. It is now shifts quite nicely, but me and this bike may never be best friends, I'll keep trying though.

    It's '20, I'll turn over a new leaf with this bike. Promise.:D

Hope all is well in Canada!

If that is the sand in the bottom pic, that looks easy!

I used to hate sand until the Super Tenere hit the stable. That thing slogged through sand really well and I've not had issue since.

    AIN'T HAPPENING Imu!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Call me when you're done.

If I'm done golfing, I'll meet you folks at the Moab Brewery.:drink

Do you remember the sand section we hit above Virgin, UT? Our first ride with @RedRockRider on Mesa Rd, up by the Hurricane Mesa Test Facility. That was some of the 'bitchess' sand I remember, I don't think anything on the WRT was ever that bad.

Sand is just part of what we do(just like my golf), and I don't fear either and can get out of both with usually no issues, but the other day burnt me out. I do think(know)the KLX was much better & stable in the sand!

Where Robert has stopped and the picture was taken is the easy sand. The sand was fairly deep in many parts of the trail. Then it would get better just enough for me to catch my breath and then it would get deep. But overall, just lots of sand.

Sam - I mentioned that you had missed a couple of photo ops at LGB. I got out today and here they are.

This is the statue of Donald Douglas, Sr and his dog, Bar, at the corner of Carson and Lakewood.

This is a reproduction of the globe that was first placed over the entrance of the Douglas plant in 1941. The original 16' copper globe is lost. No one knows what happened to it. This one is made of bronze and is 8.5' in diameter. The aircraft are the Douglas World Cruisers that flew around the world in 1924. The globe and aircraft were part of the Douglas logo with "First Around the World" for years. The logo morphed into the McDonnell Douglas/Boeing logo over the years (with a rocket on it).

I was at Dunkin yesterday morn about 730 grabbing a hot choc on my way to work. All that area is my "lap" out of Signal Hill when keeping the bikes ridden, was also there Sat morn on the Helix.

The Globe I've featured here a few times, but Douglas & his dog I have not seen, I see the In-N-Out behind so easy to find. Good history lesson on the Globe, thank you very much for that!

I'm still just amazed the way that property has transformed over the years!

Thanks Pokeyjoe for taking the time to post! Good info.

@Pokeyjoe peaked my interest on the Donald Douglas statue that'd hadn't seen, so yesterday I did manage to get back to the area to check it out for myself.

A nice tribute was done for such an icon in aviation world, a small circular park with a number of different plaques celebrating his achievements, well done but unfortunately some of the plaques are fading and tough to read.

There is another monument dedicated to Donald Douglas at the Santa Monica airport, but the Long Beach set up seems to be much more fitting since this is where his plant was producing more than 15,000 aircraft here.

    The Santa Monica tribute,

    ...back to Long Beach,

Next to the Douglas statue is a nice rendition of the Spruce Goose(actually birch) built by Howard Hughes in Culver City, but only flown the one time at the LB Habor. Cool the way this was built with the mock control tower!

The Goose still exists, McMinnville, OR. at the Evergreen Museum. That is one great museum!! Gotta get back.

My pics that I couldn't fit it all in,
