The Eco Jeep tour through the Island Conservancy agency was the absolute best! They are who manage the island, their Jeeps get to the back country that other's can't.

    For @villageidiot,

Leaving Borrego shortly but this was from yesterday, took a quick lunch break from my yard work to rack up some miles on Ripper and enjoy some lunch. I rarely drink soda now but yesterday I spoiled myself--and yes, I spilled the bitch!:baldy

    Weather is nice in Borrego?

I'll have to go down there before it gets too hot. I love the rides going from the coast over the mountains down into Borrego.

...to the long way to Circle Park yesterday,

This one is for @black 8, hopefully he'll find this here rather than clutter up his terrific thread. Rudy lots of good sand etc out by the dump, just southeast of the airport. I've ridden out there a number of times, but the last ride with my son on New Year's day kicked my ass, just gettin' older I guess & not having the right tool for the job.

    Rudy here's the turn-off,

The dump is the little circle right of screen, everything south of there down to the 79 is the area. Most of the area is just light sand and easily ridable, but some area's are the Sahara, it'll work ya.

About 80* yesterday, it's warming, do the trip in the next few months Brian. There is a lot to see in the area, Sunshine Hwy, Julian, Dudley's, Salvation Mtn. & East Jesus blah blah blah.

I'm out, gotta head back home now.

    Yak at ya soon.

    mornin' Sam...

been meaning to ride out to Borrego for some sand before the heat starts again... looks like the afternoons are starting to get up there again...

I google zoomed that area and saw trails out by Coyote Creek... lots of doughnuts tracks...

    thanks...

Yup, just like that one Sam.

the one I have is for an 8’ bed. It’s being shortened to fit a 6.5’ bed. It’s worth more that way.

also opens up a lot more truck choices/configurations.

Is there a thread? I have a hard time keeping up with all of your projects. Maybe you need an all inclusive thread like mine! And Sam, and Eric, and...

Catalina circa 1977. Pop made what he called a funnelator. 4 pieces of surgical tubing attached to a funnel. Tie to the shrouds, load up a water balloon, when a sail boat passed by we would launch it in hopes of hitting their sail and rain down on the folks. Pop would quickly lower and resume enjoying his drink. I had to dive below because we were laughing so hard.

Lots of good video's on Coyote Canyon Rudy, some parts look like it could be a pretty tough ride. I'm still a bit confused on whether it can be navigated between BS and Anza--it sounds like it can't be, closures done by the county/state.

This map is available all over town,

    What a great shot Eric!!

I'm still so proud to have custodianship of a piece of your dad's past, love that pic.

You could help us out a little here, you seem to have quick access to some of your old pics. How have you've done it? For 20 years I keep saying I've got to organize the many tubs of pics I have, I did go as far as having a tub for each of my boys, and one for Julie & I.

Have you scanned them? Just looking for any tips you might have for picture saving. SmugMug has become pretty big for me, I've got so many departments you'd laugh, ie; family, trips, bikes etc.

    Thanks for sharing Eric.

I managed to truck home Ripper after spending the past 6 months in Borrego. It needed TLC, oil change & clay bar etc., besides it is just nice having it at home in the garage 'on the ready' for those last second short trips. Not sure what's going to Borrego next, the Helix has never been there:hmmmmm.

    Coming home,

No pics, but the clay bar was a wonderful invention, Ripper is now back to a glossy smooth finish.:clap

It's nice having the wasp home, maybe Moab is in it's future.:loco

Sam: Scoot AND truck look great.
Debating about taking a Burgman to Florida.
Not sure the riding there is worth the trouble--I have taken a scooter there in the past but it just sat there except for a very short ride.
So I will listen to suggestions. However, I am taking a drone with me.

That's a beautiful peaceful shot Imu. I can not relate! Being encapsulated in this cement jungle I don't get beauty like that unless I head out of town many many miles.

On the FL trip, I know if you take a bike it means a trailer, yeah is that worth it? Are you cement bound like we are in LA? If you rode, is it just fighting city traffic? Any beaches near by? Hey there is always a McDonalds near by for pie & coffee, that is always worth a scooter trip!

Ya know FL is a golf haven also, take your clubs.:hmmmmm

Good to hear from ya brother!!

I think I could organize a similar tour in the future. My tour would have bring any bike you want, everybody meet up at each nightly destination (hotels, camping, RV, etc) for dinners together, max group size 10, mostly back roads with minimal if any Interstate. I have not completely given up on a Lake Superior ride. Maybe, 2021 or so.

I've been trying to bang out this type of trip for over 4 years now(map below), if a few scooters tagged along, even better.

A lot of details would have to filled in on that map, but I've got many idea's. Late Sept would be best I'm thinking.
