I figured it was a yellow card infraction. The red surprised me.

I thought there should have been another PK for Australia during regulation. And...maybe...one for Norway.

I think the France - Brazil match has converted my in-laws into soccer fans, they enjoyed all of it.

Refereeing is horrible, and VAR that is supposed to fix that is making it worse. Though the Camaroon team's behavior was un acceptable, I can understand how they would see a bias against African teams.
The France coach made a comment after the Nigeria match to the tune of " You can live and die by bad VAR calls" and they did. But. There should be no bad VAR calls.

France Brazil was an AMAZING match. we were boating on the lake all day, and couldnt watch.. I knew the score but watched start to finish anyways.... HARD fought.

Gettin amped for the US women today!

did anyone watch the Mens game Saturday? Yeah we looked better, and scored a lot...(this is par for the course for playing T & T in my book) but Pulisic, hes on a completely different level than the rest of them. Arriola looks really hungry too. (my son thinks its playing with Rooney lol) Cant wait to take him to go see DC vs Fire in Chicago in july..

I knew Italy was on a roll!!!! 2 - 0 over China! Good for them! 8 players who play together at Juventus has clearly helped them gel.

In minute 83 of Ned-Jpn. If this game goes to extra time, my money's on Japan. They seem to be getting stronger as the game progresses.

That NED penalty seems to have changed the tide. Tough one for Japan.

Japan was the better team in the 2nd half...Netherlands was better in the 1st half. The handball penalty was the match decider. Against Italy, China had something like 19 shots and 0 goals. Ouch.

Italy is the lowest-ranked team remaining. All six group stage winners made it through the Round of 16, plus Sweden and Norway (each was 2nd in their group).

    Thu
    Norway (#12) vs. England (#3)

    Fri
    France (#4) vs. USA (#1)

    Sat
    Germany (#2) vs. Sweden (#9)
    Italy (#15) vs. Netherlands (#8)

I went 7 of 8 in the last round (I picked Australia over Norway)...I'll pick England, USA, Germany, Italy for this next round.

Thought the penalty against Japan was a poor call.

Think I would instruct my players to forget about shooting on goal; just blast away at the nearest defender (in the penalty box) and see if you can get one of those handball calls. FWIW also thought the 2nd penalty in the USA match was also highly questionable.

I should have placed some bets today, I called Italy and Netherlands.

There's something to be said for momentum. I realize neither was a slam dunk, but they both just seem to have inertia with them. I guess we'll see who that plays out for going forward. I like them both, I don't want to choose.

Had 8 of 8 for round of 16 ... but never got a chance to watch any of the games except France v Brazil, so with a pinch of salt:

    Germany gonna destroy Sweden.:permazot

England over Norway in a boring-ass game. :snore

Italy wins over Netherlands with pure elan. :brow

Hey wait the word "elan" isn't Italianski, it's ...

Yep, France beats the USA. Unfortunately I also predict penalties will play a large part of this game. :hmmmmm

Edit: And P.S. it's gonna be hot AF (as the kids say)

^^ everything seems in order there.... except USA loses to France? :) NO! lol I mean, They're going to have to play WAY better than they just did..no more wasted runs, chances and poor final balls....because....

World cup #1 vs #4 with #4 having home advantage... it's gonna be crazy.

Regardless, I cant wait to watch it.

I'm not sure about England/Norway. Norway's on a roll and England has looked better...

France/USA, if I were only basing it on the Spain game, I'd agree, but that's short sighted. Spain went out of their way to foul the shit out of Alex Morgan right off the whistle. She seemed timid and maybe hurt. I think Ellis will start Horan, and it will not go down like that with France. Horan will make them have to take their focus off Morgan. Lavelle was/is talented, but her presence in the midfield is subtle and she's kinda delicate. Horan is a beast, she can't be left unattended. It will be close, no doubt, but I think the US pulls it out.

I like that view on the USA.... 100% agree that Spain effectively took Morgan off her game. Lavelle was phenomenal, but really only because she was given that space in the middle due to Morgan being belt-looped. Rapinoe was given some love taps as well. lol

I'm saying we pull it off as well, and Ill add only one word to your punditry: Depth.
