Hey Colorado, at least your governor didn't close liquor stores as nonessential.
Ours did, she is the only governor in 50 states to close liquor stores!
    Ya'll want to trade?

I see this as a future campaign issue. :topes

I hadn't realized that. So now we here in southern CO get NM folks (San Juan County is rampant with Covid) coming here to purchase liquor/weed. Great.

We can still get liquor and beer (not just 3.2) at the grocery store. So they are just coming up for the weed.

Most of the old ice cars had a section at each end of the car that iceblocks were loaded into , there were wood slats to keep the ice separate from th cargo , they cars were insulated and water would drain out under the car . The ice could be replenished under way , A door on the roof allowed block to be added when needed while in transit .

I've actually been out "Social Distancing" 4 or 5 times since my last post on the 23rd.
But yesterday I took the camera along and felt the inclination to take some pictures. This is one of my favorite half-day pavement loops to the east of Steamboat Springs. I started with a trip down 131 to Toponas, over Gore Pass on 134, through Kremmling on US40, then up to Walden on 125, from Walden to Rabbit Ears on 14, and then US40 back through SBS and home.
    Here are some pictures:

As you can see here there's still plenty of snow on the ski hill, but the river is starting to get full to it's banks and the trees are beginning to bud out. Nice looking day for a ride!

Sweepers through Oak Creek Canyon on CO131.

Downtown Phippsburg. Not much activity in the railyard these days.

    Sweepers on 134

Getting into some of the fun twisties on 134.

    134 descending through the drainage.

Hard for me to imagine much more bullshit than what we've already seen and heard! :topes :lol3

This is US40 just before you come to Kremmling. ^^^^
So take note of the cliffs on the left as a point of reference for the next picture.

This is a photograph that hangs over the door in the Kremmling Super Market.
Of course that's the town as seen from the bluffs back in "the good old days". Cool huh!
The market has about 3 dozen old pictures like that around the store and is well worth a stop and look.
They also have fried chicken! :thumb :dukegirl :nod ........................................................................ and they actually had hand sanitizer! :yikes

This is a picture of redline in 1st gear on the K1200GT ............... 70MPH.

It's not all twisties and sweepers on this loop ................................. lots of places for triple digit speeds and "Italian Tune-ups".
That's the Snowy Range in the background.

Cool little rock house in Walden.

    Jackson County Courthouse in Walden.
    Built in 1913.
Columns must have been on sale in 1913 ........... there are 8 of them supporting the entry roof.
Much of the interior is still original. It's worth a look.
When I'm riding through and need to use bathroom facilities ................................................... this is my "go to" spot. :D

The local cemetery sits on a pretty prominent piece of real estate and looks toward the Mount Zirkel Wilderness Area.

For a handful of years now there has been some serious O & G activity in North Park.
I was lucky enough to get a 1/2 day tour of the operations a few summers ago.
I didn't see one jack "pumping" yesterday as I rode through ........................... and I saw dozens.

Lake Catamount, Flattops, Stagecoach Ski Area, etc. It has greened up and melted off a lot since my last picture from this vantage point 2.5 - 3 weeks ago.

And here we are getting back to the bottom of Rabbit Ears Pass.
That's the top of the Steamboat Ski Area on the upper right.

Have fun and stay safe out there folks!

Damn, Rand has doubled their police force :eekers. That was one of the checkpoints on the Iron Butt Rally a number of years ago. Beware of Byers Canyon, that's where Double Yellow Dave got pulled over :deal.

Hey...Double Yellow Dave....are you back up here in the front range? Some on The Inconsiderate Bastards are trying a ride/camp out together and would be great to get you to socially distancing tag along. Since Sean is involved, we are having a hard time getting a commitment in a destination :imaposer

It's so small they could put the "You Are Now Entering" and the "You Are Now Leaving" signs ........................... on the same post! :lol3

Back in 08' Carol got a ticket coming out of Byers Canyon after following someone doing about 5 below the limit though the whole canyon. She finally pulled out and passed the person and BINGO! There's a "Statie". The trooper was actually pretty tickled .................. "I don't get to ticket many folks in a Prius" he said. :nah :lol2

No Randy, we're still down in AZ enjoying the nice cool weather. We'll be here at least another two weeks, probably heading north after Memorial Day. It will depend on what the virus cases look like as CO opens up. We both feel safer down here as there are hardly anyone around and social distancing means we can still live a normal life. Did I mention it's been nice and cool?

I believe that Butch is heading down your way soon Dave.
We'll be sure and have him take a big nice dose of CO COVID down your way.
    Meh, I've heard it's a "dry heat". :lol3

Thread reminds me how much I love riding up north and how long its been since I have. If Polis ever lifts the 10 mile recreation radius, or if I just can't stand it anymore, I look forward to bringing the GS up there.
