I rode from Jackson through Colliers, through brendon burn to and through Wharton last week, managed to stay out of the way of the Enduro race riders, they where everywhere! I'm probably going again today, not sure if I'm trailering or not, last week wore me out, that's a long ride round trip. If I go, which I probably will, I'll look for your plate Bill. Is anyone else going to be out there? Being deep in it's always better to have a riding buddy. I'm not sure if I'm taking the TW200 or the Husqy 701 yet, it will depend on what one looks like needs maintenance sooner and if anyone else goes. The TW has a works shock and cartridge forks so it does pretty good. Not fast but I can ride it all day without complaining of monkey butt.. lol

Follow this thread and "Pine Barrens ride any weekend" (page 3) which tends to be bigger bikes (until Bill went and bought a 690).

The 690 and I are still on our honeymoon. :raabia Eventually, the newness will fade. It always does.

I also own a Super Tenere and will be doing big bike rides all summer.

Thank goodness! I thought I was going to have to buy a thumper! :lol2

As far as your license plate goes, a simple trick is to supplement the regular plate fasteners with at least one zip tie. You'll never lose a plate again! Plate loss is a known "feature" of those single cylinder rattle-traps! :-) In addition, lock-tite all the bolts, otherwise you will be shedding parts like a Harley!

Replacement was easy; $6 and 15 minutes at the DMV this morning. The plate did not rattle loose. It appears to have been ripped off. :hmmmmm

The license plates NJ now issues are considerably thinner gauge steel than they use to be. We've had a few instances (on our survey trucks) of our front plates being torn off by scrub weeds/branches. (I watched it happen) The screws/portion of the plate remained on the bumper, while the plate tore free like it was Reynolds Wrap

The problem is the plates are aluminum. The brackets I made are 0.040 thick stainless they won't tear.

I took an old plate and made a silicone caulk sandwich with my current plate to damp the vibrations. after they dried together, I put it on the bike and use flat washers and nyloc nuts

    not a crack since
