As I close out on this thread, I just want to provide reflections on this journey. It’s great to be part of a community, which values immortalizing collective ideas. With each evolution, the CDR trip gets more and more refined and we all benefit. It’s actually impressive the ADV collective knowledge bank accrued to date. For example, Cannonshot was such an inspiration for us and I am sure he got some from Big Dogs and him from Adventure Cycling. In the end, innovation only works by giving back more than you take. I was a bit surprised with all the folks in reading in the Trip Planning section, indicating that we should “just ride”. For some, trip planning is much like day dreaming an idle summer day away. It was most delightful to share with others as they too got inspiration, and providing them the inspiration and courage to do something probably larger than they would have completed solo. And for others, the forecasted breakdowns and detours make your journey exciting. In the end, find a way to surround yourself with like-minded folks, whom you share the same ideals. Ride your ride. And no, Blaster and I didn’t need to plan for nearly 7 months. However, that is probably the greatest success of this thread. This thread is the second most viewed in Americas Trip Planning (albeit far, far behind) the most viewed “Is Mexico Safe”. Nearing 76,000 views, I applaud the lurkers among us. You are not invisible, and you too inspire for great journeys one day and may our paths cross.
