I'll be touring ZA and will have time for a 4-day tour from Cape Town starting at the end of March... I'd love to do a monthlong ride but this is all I can do at the moment. Hope to hit some dirt north of town and make a loop.
Was going rent from one of the Cape Town bike hire places - if you can recommend one or endorse one please feel free to PM me.
I'll be doing a similar thing in May. I've googled and found three places. None have responded this far. Please let me know what you find out.
Cool! Will keep you posted.
I can recommend Paul in Cape Town @ http://www.gsafrica.com
My girlfriend and I (from germany) rented 2 motorbikes in South Africa last december for our holiday through South Africa, Botswana and Namibia. We had a great trip and met a lot of lovely people. Unfortunately one bike felt down on a steep gravel road during a picture session. It has some scratches on levers and side panels. The rental company sent us a bill for respraying the parts, but the prizes are so high, we think they want to ripp us off. Can anyone look up some prices for spares in South Africa?
If anyone wants, sent me a PM and i sent the list with the parts and part numbers. (i want to keep it private for the time being) .
BB, pm the details.👍
I sent a pm.
Weet iemand van mooi plekke om te gan ry in di ermelo en naby gelede gebiede dankie.
Guys, I wanted to contact some South African magazines about reviewing my Helmet Hook.
I've contacted these:
Would they be the best/biggest magazines to contact?
I also have a huge selection of LED lights for bikes and other vehicles.
Polyurethane Rubbers Now in stock .
Can be posted anywhere in the world
Do you still have stock of the cush rubbers?
Yip, Bike SA is the biggest in Africa.
Thanks. I am in touch with them now and hope to have a review published soon.
A while back ( February ) in Offroad & Adventure magazines there was a article by Simon Fourie about a lovely "Gorge " Offroad route to ride in the Nelspruit Malelaan Komatipoort area. If anyone is interested we do that "Gorge" route nearly twice a month, All is welcome ,We usually start at my Farm on Uitkyk then over the mountain , out at the Mabalel hotel , over N4 then take the railway line service road . Eat something in Malelaan then in at Magnesite road , over the "three Sisters" mountain , out at Lows Creek and back again to nelspruit via Service road.
We would love to have anyone along , as long as ur bike is taken care of. We do 200km a day OR MORE , so the old plaas bike will probably not make it.
We drive KTM , Yamaha , Qauds , Can Am , Bombardiers and we sometimes have a few ladies on the Blaster 200 also.Any bike is welcome , the 2 strokes must stop in between for refuels as they cant make the trip.
There is a lovely Numbi Route we do. Or if u want to stretch it , we ride to Matsule via Gorge to Numbi and all the way back.
We also do the route to Lydenburg , Baberton and up to Kaapse Hoop .
My Friend Vaughn got gatvol for the tight cable clutch on the bombardier, Build himself a nice hydrolicue clutch system for his Bombardier, Total cost for everything including building the slave cylinder around R3000.
Anyone interested can contact me . Johan Visagie 083 2347128 on whatsapp or email ZS6AF@Lantic.net
It can be adjusted to get the correct amount of movement on the clutch. All u need to do is drill a small hole in frame , If u need to he can probably build a big strong
cover over the whole thing , We will test the clutch system tomorrow , Doing the Numbi Route , all along the KNP border.
U can mount the rear on the inside of the frame also for better protection , The system can surely be adapted for differant bikes and qauds.
Instead of a cable pulling it that thin inner pushrod works into a adapter that will never get out of that small lever.
The complete slave cylinder was fabricated by Vaughn on his lathe at his home.
I hope I am posting in the correct location. It looks like I am going to be posted to RSA (Pretoria)/Swazi coming later this year and will be there for close to three years which is pretty friggin cool!
I mention both Pretoria and Swazi (Mbabane specifically) as I will have a weekly cross-border commute for reasons those folks I meet down that way will soon discover.
I am hoping to gain some early guidance on what to expect in terms of that particular route throughout the year and other thoughts on riding in the area...commuting around Pretoria...and things like should I modify my current bike....bring it and buy something a bit more trail-oriented....can I get a good bike at a reasonable price, the usual stuff a reasonably clued-up Yank would need to not fuck up too badly riding around down there!
PM's are greatly appreciated especially from those with heavy experience in the Pretoria/Mbabane areas.
Thanks and looking forward to meeting some of you over the coming months!
If u come through Nelspruit we have a lot of shops selling bikes , but u looking for a good secondhand one , KTM525 EXC perhaps , PM me , will look around and let u know.
I've just joined this forum, so this is insert drum roll here my first post. Is there anything I should know about this forum that's different from other, other than it is rather on the large size?
