South Florida Winter Rally, February 9th - 11th 2018 Sponsored by Starton fuel treatment This is an event best suited to adventure and large (650 cc+) dual sport bikes. The self guided route will take you through 6 different parks, preserves, and wildlife managment areas. You will see cattle ranches, sugarcane fields, forest, and the everglades ranging from sawgrass and dwarf cypress to mangrove. 50/50 tires are recomended as there could be mud and/or sand depending on the weather. The Sun Pigs BBQ team are back and will be serving dinner on Friday and Saturday night. Friday - early arrivals and setup, campfire and dinner at Rally HQ Saturday - Riders meeting 8:30 at Rally HQ Saturday Evening - Winners will be announced, trivia and door prizes around the campfire. There will be no designated ride leaders for this years event. GPX tracks are availabe by sending an email to email@example.com (Tracks will be sent from February 3rd through the 8th) New for 2018 - The Startron ADV challenge What is the challenge? Half poker run and half scavenger hunt. Markers will be placed along the route, find and snap a photo of each, plus there are bonus points. The rider who turns in the most points by 6:30 PM at rally HQ is the winner. Regular markers - Worth 10 points. Take a photo of each and tally your points at the end of the day. (these do not need to be posted to count) Special Markers - Worth 25 points each, to be announced at the riders meeting Bonus points - Post photos of loading up and traveling to the rally, campfire photos Friday night, Photos of wildlife. You or your bike need to be in the photos, 10 points each, max 20 points per day Friday and Saturday. Points must be logged by 6:30 PM Saturday at Rally HQ Rally HQ is at Dinner Island Ranch WMA campground https://goo.gl/maps/iQxHpZ6n6KG2 Primitive camping is available at Dinner Island Ranch WMA or nearby Okaloacoochee Slough State Forest. Both require reservations. Note: Routes are on public roadways, State Forest, and wildlife management areas. Some forest roads may be closed at the time of the rally. We will do our best to provide accurate routes but if a road is marked closed it should be omitted from your ride. There are several fee areas, you may want to bring small bills for the iron rangers ($2-3 daily use fees for parks on the route) Carry tools and a tire repair kit, there are some remote locations on the route.
