I'm coming up to Boone from Fort Lauderdale in a few weeks. After a couple days there I have to make my way to Tellico Plains, TN for the Hootenanny. Does anyone have a good source for working out an off road/forest service/gravel road route? I have tried working from the FS maps online but that is a really difficult mission! Anyone tried or done this route before? Looks like Pisgah, Nantahala and Smokey mountains parks. I appreciate any input, weather smart ass or legitimate.

Putting the finishing touches on a trip the week of September 23rd starting in WV and heading down to Kickstand Lodge Robbinsville, NC. Any suggestions on must rides, eat, or see? Mainly sport touring but do not mind turning off onto gravel.

    Thanks!

Guess all depends on where you are starting from but south on 219 to 15 to 20 SE over to 16 into VA, hit Burkes Garden, would be some great roads on a sport tourer.

Did a 1450 mile trip this past August. Left from New Bern NC. Drove through Va to Clarksburg WV for a business meeting. Left there and drove hwy 33 over to Front Royal Va. camped on the Shenandoah river just outside the Park. Then over to a buddies place in Culpeper Va where we did some pretty good off road riding for a couple hours. Really gave the ol KLR a work out. Fun stuff.
