    LOL

So I was having an intermittent starting issue yesterday. I didn't even care. I was like "fuck it, I'll bump start it every time". I guess it's a fun bike when the enjoyment outweighs the inconvenience...?

I did solve it, which is nice, because button beats running next to it with one foot on a peg...

It's actually a testament to how much I like the bike. I've sold or traded shit off for less than that.

I'm over the hill in Cornhole aka Corning! It's exactly 80 miles from my house to the Indian Casino Gas station in Covelo via M4.

Heard today from my Cal-Fire crew that the road past Salt Creek is open - I'll be headed that way Friday. Speaking of exhaust, I repacked the older Akro's that I got for the 990, will install them tomorrow and hope they are not as obnoxious...

Love my 690 as well, but as I seem to travel longer and longer distances with mostly asphalt, the 990 is much more comfortable. Did 425ish miles in one day on the 690 with Redog some time ago: with frequent stops it wasn't too bad, but took 11 hours...

Kinda chilly at elevation early in the morning. Probably take me the rest of the day to thaw out! Good riding though, and being in the sun on the ridgetops is glorious. Did Kneeland to Redwood House to 36 and then a little east on 36 to play around at the abandoned Van Duzen Bridge and Swimmer's Delight, before coming back 36 and then through Fortuna and over Tompkins Hill.

When it's super clear you can see the ocean and the Eel River Valley from a few sections of Redwood House

M4 is open and legally open, Rode Hull Rd/rd 313 to M9 and to M4. Some larger downed trees have been cleared where they fell so work has been done.
The trails though,I have ridden for many years and alas and bummer deal but most everything off 313 and M9 is burnt and nobody has been riding them.
We had KTM 2 strokes out there on Monday.

We didnt see any really big burned trees that had fell, but with wind and winter I think a lot of dead trees will be going down.
I believe FH7 has been kept clear but I can see how a chainsaw might be a valuable thing on bike for a good while.

It's almost maudlin at this point.
Not long ago a V-Strom was the holy grail. One ride on a proper orange bike and it's over.

Oh I still think a V Strom is a great do it all and traveling bike and may well own another. The KTM ain't getting ridden more than a few hundred miles in a day.

Gradually as the orange die starts leaking through your skin, coming out around your fingernail beds, wearing orange T-Shirts,etc. The idea of a 790/890/1090/1190/1290 will start seeming like a good idea.
120mph in town will seem slow.

A friend has money down on an 890,Not sure how soon that will happen.

Ive coaxed my DR650 up to 90 + mph on that Playa. Pretty fun.
And camped on it twice at Burning Man.

I can see how if your cape got caught in the spokes the day could really take an interesting turn.
    ====================
Ive had KTM's since 1978,so not a real recent convert. Ive lost count but over 15 for sure.

He is still fighting it, the force is strong in this one. Soon the great power of Orange will overcome him, rendering him useless to the wishes of the Gods of Orange.....

Dunno but there's apparently bad juju right there for cyclists. I should be extra vigilant!

Vigilant for sure, all of us I hope.

I spent the evening sitting on a porch at a hotel in Burney with another couple we ride our GS with last year.
Scar and injury contest with my buddy Tim.

Each would show a scar and injury story in sequence to see who would last the longest.
It took most of the evening. I won (lost actually I guess) and out lasted him by 2 or 3 scars.
He kept running back into his hotel room I assume to strip down and remind himself where all the scars are.

The only one I could not show was the waffle scar on my ass.
He had to buy breakfast the next morning.
