Me and my friend ride on (and off) the road again, in a short and a day trip to discover a new track to reach Parakan Salak. The track lead us to Pamijahan and all the way through to Kabandungan. Surely, we were trying to ride out of the bumps, and we're trying hard. It's not a short cut indeed, it's bloody on and off road ride. Check your bike's suspension first. It's tough!

This is the first and the last big bridge we had seen off from Purwabakti. Don't expect smooth tarmac beyond this road. Let's suffer!

Alright then, let's get rid off houses and compounds. What lies beyond that road?

This is a view from a tiny and bumpy road that will lead us to the conservation park. If you can notice the village in the distance, there are many antennas like made of bamboo with a dry coconut leave on top of it. I don't know exactly what is that things meant to be, but to me it's more like a wind direction devices. It's a unique invention though it's already obsolete.

Notice that "traditional wind direction devices" on the center bottom of the picture.

Villagers burning something that created misty road before us.

It's quite shocking to find that the big cities disease appeared in the middle of the woods, here in "Taman Nasional Gunung Halimun Salak". The board just couldn't help itself.

The distance smoke on the feet of the hill is a geothermal station belongs to Chevron. We were curios and eager to get there and find out what does it like.

We saw a dead tree on our way to Chevron's Station.

On the right side of the rider is a plantation program founded by cooperation with foreign institutions.

We encountered a huge compound of Cianten Tea Plantation, large buildings and housing complex on our way. We took a back road but only lead us to a dead end. Local villagers told us that this path previously would lead us a short cut but the bridge collapses a view weeks ago. The creek quite deep though.

Realize that our bike aren't build for off-road purpose, we carefully slow down on this bumpy road. I don't know how local villagers ride this road with their moped, they do it pretty good.

A few miles after this signboard we encountered a road junction, the right turn will lead us to the deeper "Taman Nasional Gunung Halimun Salak", but we don't have much time that day. So we took left turn. We promised to go back there someday with longer time and good preparation.

Finally we met houses and buildings, we were starving and desperately longing for food. Just across this "National Park" office we saw a small food stall and we took a break for lunch.

After the break, we rode again for the second stage of this trip. We're heading for Chevron's geothermal station.

We rode a curvy, stony and bumpy road. We encounter various track from smooth tarmac, gravel and macadam. It took us about an hour and half when we finally arrived on a street junction with directory sign of Chevron geothermal station for left turn and Parung Kuda on the right turn. We took the left turn.

Not too far after we turn left, a smooth and curvy tarmac lies before us. It's a heaven for speed lover and a moto GP wannabe. It's more like track in Puncak, but with less traffic. We do speed up, but not too fast.

And finally it met its dead end, an outpost of Chevron geothermal station. There is a barrier.

A view from Chevron's Geothermal station gate. The pipe in front goes down miles away, carrying thermal energy from the tummy of the earth.

    It's recorded as 6º45'48.94"S 106º39'36.52"E 1120m asl.
