OK, so that triggered my memory of a conversation I had with him about the 640s. A buddy is looking for a DS bike, but he can try out my 640. I'm thinking an XR-650L or something like that, but not a KLR.

Steve, it's Ryan who wants the test ride on a non-KLR, and he was a KLR owner. Unfortunately for the KLR he used to own, he was very good at surpassing the limits of that bike.

I sure knew the limits of my KLR. I don't think I surpassed them since the limits are all it would do

    Jim sure likes those WR's...

Check out my latest adventure bike I built a few weeks ago that I'm trying to learn the limits of - it is *very* capable

Oh jesus Christ, you too? Did Jimjib convince you to try this?

What are you doing with that old GS? Sell it to me. Let me bring it back from the dead.

I came up with this on my own after having an off-the-shelf e-bike. Ironically he may follow my footsteps on this one.

I have two GS's. I got a second one on the cheap that needs a clutch and figgered between the two I can build a nice one. It's not on the short list of projects however - I'm having too much fun on the e-bikes. Since last July I've managed to put over 2300mi on the darn things :D

This one is only a few weeks old and it's already got 300mi on the clock and I'm not even finished building it. It's *much* better off-road than the other one I have and will go anywhere my motos would go, just not so fast but I'm old, have one leg, and don't go so fast anyway. It's got much more power and without carrying spare batteries in the bags has ~50mi range at 15-20mph. Goes down quickly above 20 and goes way up below 15 and I can always carry another battery in the bags. I have yet to do a 50mi day anyway and I would be pretty beat after that especially if it's mostly off-road. It's great at keeping the grin-meter pegged :-)

Not bad for an adventure bike that goes in the trunk of the car :ricky

Sounds cool. I see them popping up everywhere lately.

If you ever decide you don't want to bother with the motorcycles, ping me.

I've got a 98 (I think) triumph tiger triple 900 sitting in the garage that needs a tall guy... just sayin'... With my leg I will never ride it again, too tall... Fun bike too, sort of sport bike/DP with the most incredible torque curve (straight line) I've ever ridden, the triple nine into dual exhaust has a most unique.... growl/roar... The BMW is another story... find me some time and I'll be on it... Steve builds sh!t... KLR got parted...

For now building/riding e-bike. I take it places I never thought I'd go... have 4x4 for DP distance...

Is the Triumph for sale? Just curious at the moment. I have no room for another bike in the garage.

I'd let it go - a couple of people asked about it. The rub is that on my list of projects, cleaning the garage enough to dig it out isn't all that high either :dunno
