Sunday, Oct. 4, and I am itching to load and to ride one more time before it gets cold up "north". I guess everything is North from Tucson..... St. George looks like a good place to stage for a few days, and I'm trying to decide whether to take the CRF450L or the Africa Twin. I did get out to 3-Step near Moab a few weeks ago, but having just returned from a long Wyoming ride, I mostly just relaxed. I need to read back a few pages to catch up, and pick a few route to help me decide. Leaning to taking the ATAS, moteling it, and doing some paved/good gravel routes. Have one day to decide....or two......

Pretty much endless possibilities for either bike. I live here and ride a Vstrom 1000 and an RMX450Z and still have not come close to riding everything. I don't generally plan or record my rides using GPS but I do have a few big bike routes out of St. George saved with the app "ridewithgps" so if you are interested I think I can share those. I pay for the app for routing purposes, mostly for MTB, so I'm not sure how helpful they will be without the subscription. There is also some high alpine riding two hours north of here in the Tushar mountains just east of Beaver, UT. Lots of options.

Tushars, as long as it is dry and not snowing, definitely big bike friendly.

It is just scenic graded dirt roads through the mountains. Really pretty though.

I'd really like to get the time to come out there and ride. If this world was in crazy mod it would have been last spring.

Passing through town next week - looking to ride with some locals. If anyone is interested in meeting up to ride, I’ll bring the beer.

A local dual sport rider of Advanced age wants to know what kind of fuel range do you have on your ride?

Ended up riding solo out in Warner for all but an hour....

The 500 EXC rental from Southern Utah Adv. was in piss poor shape and left me stranded twice.

First a loose battery cable (apparently a known issue which was not correctly repaired the first time) and then a clogged fuel filter/failing fuel pump.

Was able to diagnose and fix the first myself with loaner tools from an RV nearby. The second had me waiting in the sun for over an hour waiting for a pickup, apparently my location was not relayed to the driver by whom ever I spoke to.

Word to the wise that they don’t have their act together. Avoid!

Damn that's a rental to remember. Sorry for the luck. Sounds like something that would happen to me for sure

After this trip https://advrider.com/f/threads/sout...-from-st-george.725976/page-109#post-39571812 I’ve decided to try and spend 3-4 months in the area this winter and am looking for a place to rent. Thought I’d post the question up here as it’s proven difficult finding a place in the St George, Hurricane area that takes a dog, has a garage and short lease terms (< 12 mos). Any recommendations out there? Floating it here in case folks with similar interests (moto) could steer me in a direction.

Sorry if off topic. Once I do move I plan to make up for it by populating this thread with more action shots as I plan to bring the 790 and 300 back.
    Thanks!

When you move make sure you build a bunk room in your garage for visiting riders!

    Nice.

Plans for visiting are to include scouting lots to build on, at which point there’ll likely be a 4 car garage/shop in the works.

No work, no travel. Just hunkered down with Mrs. RRR. Riding road bikes more than dual sport currently. Just completed 3,000 mile trip to Minnesota to buy RRR Jr. a pizza for his college break, then returned to Utah via Texas to avoid snow in Nebraska and Colorado. Stay safe everyone.

Good to hear from you. Isn't a 3,000 road trip considered travel? Hope we can all get through the Kong flu season and all return back to the old normal.
