This is going to be my home for the next 7 days - 300 kilometres offshore at Swains Reef, Australia.

No internet so will have to upload some ( hopefully ) good fishing photos when I return.

Yeah - just a bit excited about it too. :-)

These are all from Michigan. The tagged smallie is from a Great Lakes fisheries study where they track location/migration

I love how fish pics depend on point of view. These two pics are the same fish. (not the fish above)

Biggest to date flyrod ditch pickle - just a tad under 20-inches! One of several for the day - were great blackened in the cast iron at the campsite.

Amber Jack and a Snapper. Caught lots of other things as well in addition to a 110 lb Tarpon.

The Kings in the Great Lakes are well into their staging patterns even with a late Spring.

Yes, some of the best Pacific Salmon fishing can be done....in the Midwest & Ontario.

A bit further south. Cedros island, off of Baja. We did a “mothership trip”, launching kayaks off a big sport fishing boat.

Just got back from Florida fishing with a friend who’s lives down there and is somewhat of a tarpon guru.

I’ve never tarpon fished before and got so lucky it’s not funny. I hooked up three times and “caught” all three. I saw “caught” because a leader touch counts in that game. I did handle the biggest, estimated by my buddies at 125lbs

That fish totally kicked my ass, it took over an hour to land on light tackle. One of the guys was bitching that it was a three beer fish. I don’t know how he could have drank three beers when he was in my hip pocket barking orders the whole time.

Thanks, I was so beat at that point that I handed the rod off so I could get a hand on it. They are beyond cool and powerful.

The guy in the visor in the pics lost one a couple days later that was bigger than that one. That fish almost spooled him and must have been 200 yards out when it jumped and threw the hook.
