This is Bear Creek Rd, starts off a bit of residential, then quickly climbs back up to the top of the ridge here.

Thank you sir. I have been reading your posts for some time now. I meant to tell you that I also had an EX500 in my early days. Man, I loved that bike. Sure wish I still had it. I had the same color as yours. Mine was a 1988 (I think), bought brand new. I was 21 and no-one in my family would co-sign for me (too dangerous), so a friend did for me and off I was on that rocket. I liked how you said you used to wear out the front tires first. I did not do that then, but find this to be the case now on the FJR.
    Thx for following.

After all these years of riding and all the bikes I have owned, that EX500 is still one of my favorites! Your posts from your last ride made me think of my EX500 because I did some riding in that area on some "narrow, tree-lined mountain roads" on my EX500 back in 97. It's possible I rode some of the roads in your pics since I did ride 35. I remember the Southern end being a really narrow road.

I ran on 35 to the junction with 8. I went east to Saratoga. LOTS of traffic there. Cut across to San Jose and back up Mt Hamilton towards home. San Jose below in this pic (population-1 mil).

Mt Ham is popular with the 'Silicone Valley Spandex Crowd'. Poppies.

They are repaving this from the top down. Almost done, this was done very fast as I was here not too long ago and it wasn't even started yet. They seem to repave this road every few years.

Last set of pics from this day ride. This is San Antonio Valley Rd/CA 130. Turns into Mines Rd at The Junction (I stopped briefly there). The big fire was only 8 months ago, these pics compared to the ones I too through here a few months back show how quick nature recovers. It will be a while before the tree growth improves but the greenery is evident. Even though we had very little rain this season.

That's wild. I was in the Santa Cruz mountains last weekend too. Road 35 and 9, checked out some of the fire damage from Felton empire and Jameson. I grew up in Santa Cruz so lots of fond memories. We planned to ride over mt Hamilton but ran short on Time...

    Love the reports...

I got out for a 'May Day' ride today. The goal was to ride a few roads I have been meaning to ride up in the Placerville-Georgetown area. Mission accomplished, as I found a few gems. 350 miles in all. Here are a few pics to start.

    Screenshot 2021-05-01 at 7.30.36 PM.jpg

    Leaving; 7 am.
    IMG_9894.jpg

Coffee and a scone in downtown Placerville (Hangtown). It was 95 miles here. Next up; Mosquito Rd.

More on this later. Cool sign though.

Lunch in Georgetown at the deli. While here, an old timer struck up a conversation about bikes. He was lamenting an injury holding him off his BMW. He was about 80 ish, had his wife with him. He had on a hat from Deals Gap. It was nice listening to his riding stories while I ate my sandwich.

I think every county in the US has a Bear Creek Rd. After this I got onto Darling Ridge Rd. With a name like 'Darling Ridge'; I need to see where it goes.....

    @Kefalos
Thx, yes Sonoma County is truly loaded with great motorcycle roads. One of my favorite areas.

Finally getting back to this last ride. From Placerville, after coffee, I went a few blocks to Mosquito Rd. I found out about this road and very cool bridge from Pashnit. If you live in California and want to know about the good roads to ride; you must bookmark this:

    https://www.pashnit.com/ca-mosquito-rock-creek-rd

Pics here from Mosquito Rd. Those familiar with this general area; this is not to be confused with close by Mosquito Ridge Rd to Foresthill. That road is a report for another day. This one is a bit goaty and bumpy.

Up the steep canyon. Here they fully reinforced the hillside after a slide.

Here I turn onto Rock Creek Rd. Again; my first time on this road.

Here it's a right turn, up the hill on CA 193. This road is a favorite as the pavement and bends are top notch. Im only going a short distance here to Kelsey. Where I turn off to explore a few more roads I have not been on before.
