This site has been so useful to me, I figure will be a great place to document my rides. I have so many pics scattered all over, I can organize and detail my rides and trips here.
Im riding a 2015 Yamaha FJR1300es. It's my 3rd FJR, first one I bought new (April 2016). I love this bike, suits my needs very well. I'm not one to ride with the factory side cases tho. I have made a few mods. This bike has great long distance comfort, wind protection, and a heavy dose on the 'sporty' side for it's class.

I'll start with a ride I did yesterday; triple Sierra passes; Sonora (CA 108), Monitor (CA 89) and Ebbetts (CA 4).

Here is my bike at 7:30 am departure Oct 17, 2020

This was my first ride after getting new tires, brake pads, general service, etc. So, I am 20 miles in, on CA 120, heading east, sun in my eyes; I see my ABS light and my TCS (traction control) light both come on. WTF??:eek7 I turn into a church parking lot right away. Ten plus years of riding FJR's, I have never seen this. I dismount, take off helmet and begin looking around. I zero in on the front ABS sensor-it's loose, service guy must have missed it:doh. I dug out the tool kit, found the proper allen wrench, snugged it up, problem solved.
Disaster averted, I continued. Took a few fun backroads to Jamestown for fuel. Next stop was in Sugarpine at Alicia's Sugar Shack. They were busy, worth the wait tho as the coffee and scone was excellent:super. No pic of the food tho.

10CPROI110101-000023.JPG Here is the route I took. Plus I was testing out this new tail bag. I have a larger one of these, very well made bags. A couple pics; Sonora Rd in the foothills, then early up on 108, gaining elevation.

More lower 108, before Kennedy Meadows, fire damage and hazy skies.

Past Kennedy Meadows the climb starts proper. The views and color get much more dramatic. Lots of folks out enjoying the day. Beautiful weather. Lowest temp I seen was 66, high was 94. Pics here up to the summit. I did not stop here tho. Rolled right over the top to newly paved Mono County roads. 10CPROI110101-022217.JPG 10CPROI110101-022306.JPG 10CPROI110101-022520.JPG 10CPROI110101-022917.JPG 10CPROI110101-023101.JPG 10CPROI110101-023618.JPG

Down the East side. Pavement was new, but seemed to be lots of gravel in the corners. Not really a 'go fast' section anyway. Flattens out to the junction to 395, which I took North for a bit along the Walker river. Can be quite windy through here. Even though it was a red flag warning day, the wind was mild from what I have seen here. Pics coming down East side of 108:

Next up; Monitor Pass (CA 89). This is where 89 starts on the east end. This road runs a long way thru CA. This part here is IMO the best part for curves, etc. Just fantastic big, fast sweepers with huge elevation gains and drops. The fall colors were pretty decent too.

The last pic in the last post was the summit. Almost 20k feet gain on the day. Here are a few pics of the decent to junction with CA 4, the start of Ebbetts Pass. A car club was coming up the west side, I got one decent pic. The weather here was amazing, such a beautiful day.

From this junction, it's 77 miles to Angels Camp. Ebbetts (CA 4) is such a scenic road. Dramatic views with big drop offs. On this day, perfect weather and more folks out enjoying this fall day then I expected. Here are pics of the east side lower slopes.

Back down CA 4 into the hazy, hot valley. Fuel in Copperopolis, then an hour home.
