Noted and edited. Just trying to pass along info that was told to be directly from forest service personnel

It says on the Alpine Loop unlicensed vehicle must have a sticker, not licensed vehicles. Which passes were you riding, Yinzer?

Oh...so your saying a Harley would need the trail pass to drive on a dirt street in Silverton but my truck or Camaro doesn't. Yeah that sounds right.

Just the easier ones, my wife was riding along too. Engineer, black bear, others around the Salida area. I spoke with the forest service ranger for a while trying to understand what they were saying. I was baffled too. I used to live in Colorado and back then a plate was good enough. They said the law changed a few years ago.

I had the same experience in Dove Creek, Utah. Local police officer directed me to the city Park. Said he would be on duty all night and would cruise by often so No Worries!

So much for the original intent of this thread. I guess it's time to close it. C'est la vie.

More stealthing tools from the former Soviet Union - nothing better than good old commie hardware for going unnoticed in the woods !!

Not really a stealthy setup, rather, just far enough off the road to not be seen. Bottom line the Bankhead National Forest has so many options for stealth camping, wild camping, or just spending some time in the woods outside a campground. If you are rolling thru Alabama you should check out the Bankhead - more than you can see in a week for sure, and I did not even show you the Sipsey River that runs thru it!!

First in a series from 2013. Sorry about the quality -I had to use old crappy footage to remake the series as I have misplaced the originals. I learned a LOT from this trip, mostly about being wet and cold, and a little bit about big heavy bikes on sand. :)

entering New Brunswick and stopping at an iconic fishing village on the coast, to demonstrate the phenomenal tides exhibited by the boats laying in the mud below the docks.

A couple days in a fishing village before heading back south into warmer and drier weather. Some stealth camping in a neighborhood in upstate New York was the last of the cold and wet.
