In 30+ years, my wife has never discouraged me from riding. As long as all the insurances are in her name...

years ago not long after getting married, we were in a bit of a money pinch. She told me i needed to sell the bike.

I told her i'd had it longer than i'd had her & it never bitched when i got on it.

only fight i've won in 30 something years

Met me when I was passing through her town on a long ride. It was four months before I caged it to see her.

She's quite clear that she knows the bike is important to me. It's also important to her.

We got out Monday, to test the Senas Santa gave us for Xmas. Life is good.

I am 74 and looking forward to a Faroe Islands / Iceland trip that I've been planning for a couple of years. The problem with my age and the plague is that insurance companies here in Australia don't like to insure any one who's reached 75 if they are going to ride a big (over 125cc) bike. I am not doing my trip on a 125!

At 72 that just pisses me off! We're fortunate here that there are less rules, inspections and taxes depending where you live. Since I've been with the same insurance company for many years my insurance is really pretty inexpensive. Multiple bikes.

Must be some way around that rule?

Too bad they don't make bikes that are 1125cc, you could just forget to put in the first digit,... an age related problem!

Scratching the last 0 off the fairing will get you there with most bikes. :-)

Well, interestingly enough I have been referred to an insurance company in the US to replace my Australian-based travel insurance. Don't have the details handy, unfortunately.

Sounds like age discrimination to me.

Couple guys stopped in the shop yesterday and the subject of where to go for the next ride came up..then changed into where have you been? I'm no iron Butt guy because I like to see stuff and learn history as part of the ride. One of the guys asked if I had some pictures from the trips. Put this together for them. Hopefully this will show a different way to see the world. You can always count on stopping in a small town Mom's cafe and finding the locals in the corner. Someone will ask where you're from and where ya going? And then someone will tell you to - stop here and go there. It just expands your experience...happens all over the world when you walk in carrying a helmet.

Absolutely! I've been back riding for almost a month now. Did a 9 hour ride up to Fort Bragg and back last Sunday.

Pick a time (I'm retired). But not tomorrow. I'm doing a full day ride with another inmate.

At 67, that heart attack last June kept me off the single track for a week! My recovery is moving along. This was yesterday. The Doctor says just keep doing what you are doing. I sure love my exercise machine.

74 years young. Or 74.5 years, if using @Beemerguru logic. Hi Greg.:wave

Just bought another Beemer (1999 R 1100 R) from a guy in Huston. U ship had it to my house in 29 hours

I have a Beemer problem for which there is no 10 step program.

Looking forward to another riding season. Hopefully there will be some gatherings this year that will still take place.
