I laughed thinking about how your optimism seemed to be holding strong as I drove home under cloudy, but dry, skies!

    Oohhhh! Sgt. Rick's!

I waited for a couple of hours at Cpl. Rick's.
    The burger was excellent.

Tell Capt Welder that the kick stand just arrived!

We have had a fantastic trip. The Indian has kept us dry. I think. I may be inebriated as well!!

    Lol!

Be safe. I'd say, "Have fun," but it appears that you already are!

789 miles from start to finish. @Bhuff and I have done single days this long but that number is the total miles for 4 days on the road. The "eternal optimist" and his Indian mojo saved the trip in its entirety. It rained where we went before we got there. It rained in places after we went through them. It rained the last 2 nights on the overnight but was clearing by the time we got on the road. We got sprinkled on every day but Brian suggests a range of 4-10 drops per sprinkling. We hauled rain suits but they never saw the light of day.

Found "dine-in" steaks at the Overlook Restaurant in Leavenworth. :thumb

Found Busted Knuckle Dark Ale in Story. Met some crazy folks in Story... that's another story, both of them. :beer

Sargent Rick served us dinner on Wednesday afternoon and breakfast today. Well worth the stop in Freetown. :dukegirl

We explored many views of the Ohio River and traveled some of the best backroads in the USA. The trip proved you don't have to travel hundreds of miles to get to the good stuff. RR coming soon on my thread.

    Wander Indiana! :ricky :ricky

    Over-n-out, Capt. Welder(?)

Buy the CD. The last track on it is an acoustic, instrumental version of the "sung song". It is a peaceful tune.

We did have a safe trip and thought of you often. Hope your ears ain't to crispy. :lol3

I really look forward to the ride report. I wish I had been with you guys, but duty prevailed.

Kept an eye of the weather all week and it did seem that you guys were living a charmed life--but, sure, I'll go with Brian's eternal optimism as the cause.

Really good to hear that you had a great time and found some great roads.

Was just rolling with the Sgt. Rick's theme and promoted you to Capt. :lol3

Suppose I can stop with the aloe vera on the ears?:D

Thanks. Have you mailed the stand?

Aloe vera was a good call. The burnt stuff will eventually wash off. We tried to be easy on you. :lol2

Deb wants to come up to Upland on Saturday to visit her sister. Thought I'd swing by, say hello and drop off the stand. Deb just confirmed the plans with her sister this evening.

Can put it on the porch if you guys aren't going to be around.

You were right about the acoustic version--that is good.

RD350 is riding out west and has been sending me some really nice shots from the road.

Glad some of you are riding!

Joel - Kim and I may run down to the southern part of the state to do some rock hunting but not sure which day. Sounds good though, I will let you know.

Glad to hear Elvis is getting some road time. I remember a few weeks ago when you were out riding and Brian and I were w*rking.

Joel has already seen most of the pics that will go into my ride report. I’m appending it to the end of my Alaska ride report. It will take me awhile to get the whole thing up with video segments, but I got some good stills with my iPhone.

We went to some really cool places but this is probably the best photo I‘ve ever taken of Elvis. It’s going to be difficult to top this. Taken in BFE South Dakota on a pull-off from I-90 at just the exact right time as the sun was setting.

Joel: Saw a Triumph Bonnie in the high school parking lot today. Looked like the 800cc model - not sure what size they are now. Had a Schuberth helmet in the factory helmet sock attached to the bars. Assume the rider was watching a soccer game on the field. Anyway, thought of you and wondering how your woeful kickstand is doing.

Kickstand is modified and repainted. Waiting for a date night with Joel and Deb to deliver.

Wished I had known you were going to SD. I built a rat truck years ago that now graces the parking lot of the Sioux Motel in Murdo. I've seen a lot of pics floating around on the interweb of bikes parked next to the old girl but none with Elvis.

This was unlike the Alaska trip which had known destinations and objectives. This trip was largely an unplanned go wherever ride. So even I'm surprised I gassed up in Murdo. But if you had mentioned it I certainly would have stopped to take a picture. Lord knows there's few other things to take a picture of in Murdo. See random non-Elvis picture from Wyoming. IIRC, this is headed into the Big Horns on US16.

I was just going to say that JB has the kickstand issue well under control--but saw that he already jumped in!

    Great picture of wide-open spaces.

Joel, RD, Monkey Dad, JD Fog and anyone else following Joel's thread, I found this little gem on Day Trippin' HERE. All the players are from Indiana. Sounds like they had fun.
