Nine months for southern wusses - only three months for us hardy northerners.
Spent a lot of my childhood in Caribou, Maine--where the skiing is good nine months of the year...not quite as good the other three.
If you'd kept going just a little bit further north you would have been headed south.
They have a Harley Davidson dealer there, you know. Just sayin'.
The 2017 IBA Rally started here in Minneapolis. I just happened to be at the hotel (having lunch with my wife) where they staged the start & finish on the Saturday before the Sunday start. Turns out on leg 3 they went to St.John's Newfoundland... which is WayTF beyond Caribou Maine. The IBA rally is typically held the 3rd week of June. I bet the roads were covered in moose turds and still had snow in the ditches.
Lost a friend to Covid this morning.
You guys be safe.
Sorry to hear that, Joel.
My son's graduate advisor lost his mother to Covid last Friday.
Indoor dining and gyms have been closed here since 11/22. No school athletic programs. Re-evaluation on 12/18 but likely to remain in place as long as hospital and ICU occupancies are maxed out. I suspect the earliest we'll re-open is late Jan or Feb. Surrounding states have maxed out their healthcare capacity but they have few or no restrictions in place.
Very sorry Joel.
Rode with Denis for an hour and twenty today.
Thought about Chuck a lot today while riding. I took Denis on several of the roads I took Chuck on a few years ago.
Sorry to hear that. Statistics are real people with friends and family.
Not sure why the shot of Denis went askew.
He just put an upgraded--though not electronically adjustable--suspension on the GS. Seemed really happy with it.
Just received confirmation that my new Seat Concept kit for the KLX should be here on Friday. All reviews indicate it to be a huge upgrade in comfort. Pretty excited about it.
Bought a spoke wrench, since both bikes have spokes, and will be getting a tire balancing stand. I think the bounce in the front rim of the KLX may respond better to attempting to true the wheel than 50 lbs. of weights.
All this needs to wait until I get my finals graded and I get a chance to do some more work on a cigarbox guitar I'm putting together for JB2.
After grades... Bikes first! Guitar second... or third. Get your priorities straight there professor!
Bit the bullet when a 25% off sale on the Hardcore Camping Bundle from Green Chili Adventure Gear popped today. Get the rack, to 20L dry bags and a strap kit.
Means the guitar has to go...but like my stratocaster-copy better, so wasn't too hard a decision.
Not sure I'll get to moto-camp, but the rack will work with either bike, so I'm ready to try it.
Is it going on the KLX or the Scrambler?
KLX...but it'll work on both
Next thing you know you’ll be adding cruise control.
Tell me again how well it works on your bike! Do you ever get confused about which drink holder your Coke is in?
Better than the CC on my wife’s Buick. Seriously, I don’t know what it’s problem is - has a barely perceptible glitch at a certain point in the powerband. I don’t think it and the transmission are on perfect speaking terms.
Them’s fightin’ words. In my house we drink Royal Crown Cola - or as my son calls it, “Confederate Coke”.
[That’s what happens when you grow up spending your summers in the early 1970’s in western Kentucky.]
Surprisingly, no cup holder yet. Not even a water bottle holder - although I did consider getting one for Mrs.RD for XMAS. No gifts this Christmas for Elvis but I did drop a Benjamin or two at the Pacers Team Store. She gave me permission to take a pass on the Pacers ear rings for her - sort of heartbroken over that.
Had our family Christmas today and the fam loaded me up with dual sport gear. Shin guards...upper body armor jacket...MSR fuel bottle and bottle holder and the better seat for the KLX.
Next riding season is going to be fun!
